Ice Cream...

REPENT!
This is for all the grandfathers out there, and everybody else!

Last week, I took my grandchildren to a restaurant.

My six-year-old grand-son asked if he could say grace.

As we bowed our heads he said, "God is good, God is great. Thank you for the food,
and I would even thank you more
if Grandpa gets us ice cream for dessert.
And liberty and justice for all! Amen!"

Along with the laughter from the other customers nearby,
I heard a woman remark,
"That's what's wrong with this country.
Kids today don't even know how to pray.
Asking God for ice cream! Why, I never!"

Hearing this, my grand-son burst into tears and asked me,
"Did I do it wrong? Is God mad at me?"

As I held him and assured him that he had done a terrific job, and God was certainly not mad at him,
an elderly gentleman approached the table.

He winked at my grand-son and said,
"I happen to know that God thought that was a great prayer."

"Really?" my grand-son asked.

"Cross my heart," the man replied.

Then, in a theatrical whisper, he added
(indicating the woman whose remark
had started this whole thing),

"Too bad she never asks God for ice cream.
A little ice cream is good for the soul sometimes."

Naturally, I bought my grand-children ice cream at the end of the meal.
My grand-son stared at his for a moment,
and then did something I will remember the
rest of my life.

He picked up his sundae and, without a word,
walked over and placed it in front of the woman.

With a big smile he told her,

"Here, this is for you.
Shove it up your ass you grouchy old bitch! "

Touches the heart doesn't it?

On Sequestration...

From David P. in S.C.

"The Obama Administration's disregard for the law has struck again -- and this time, it's encouraging others to violate the law at taxpayer expense. ...

The law in question is called the WARN Act, and it requires that federal contractors send employees layoff notices 60 days before a plant closing or mass layoff.

The inconvenience: Massive defense spending cuts under sequestration are scheduled to hit on January 2, 2013. Defense contractors affected by the budget cuts would have to issue notice letters to employees by November 2 (four days before the election) to meet the January 2 start date for the spending cuts.

The penalty taxpayers would pay: Employers who violate the WARN Act are liable to their former employees for 'back pay for each day of a violation' and 'benefits under an employee benefit plan,' as well as a penalty of $500 for each day that notice has not been sent to the local government where the layoffs will occur.

As an example, Lockheed CEO Bob Stevens has said that 123,000 of his employees would receive layoff notices. If companies fail to meet the WARN Act's deadline, lawsuits from employees could result -- but the White House has provided a taxpayer-funded guarantee as a way to counter their fears of enormous litigation costs. This guarantee is not only unprecedented but also potentially unlawful. ...

This is the ultimate abuse of the President's executive authority: inducing federal contractors to violate a federal law and promising to use taxpayer funds to reimburse them for any resulting liability that they incur for violating that law.

Refusing to follow federal law has become the hallmark of this Administration, but the White House's latest arrogant, unlawful ploy goes even further and may end up costing the American taxpayer a great deal of money."

--Heritage Foundation's
Hans von Spakovsky and Amy Payne

~~~~~
Well, the auto industry and banking industry bailouts cost the American taxpayer a lot of money, too...  So do ethanol and wind subsidies.  It makes perfect sense to me to add more to the debt.  I mean, wow.  Gee whiz.  (snark)
Besides, sequestration isn't going to happen.  The bozos we elect next week aren't going to allow it.  They will go back to D.C. long before January 2nd and will pass a spending bill that will prevent it.  We know that and they know that.  Go ahead and violate the law for political expediency (and to avoid harpooning one's election chances).  It's ok.  All the cool kids do it.
It's a conundrum.  Be honest and follow the law, or lie and help obama get reelected.  (Lies of omission are lies nonetheless)   Not sure that it makes any difference because the Democrats have already voted.  :)
Ya know, obama has to be shitting all over himself, given all of the controversy surrounding him right now .
I'm guessing that he is thankful for Hurricane Sandy right about now.  She is certainly "a crisis never to be wasted" that is deflecting the focus away from his dismal (and possibly criminal) record as POTUS so close to the election.
And we thank The Heritage Foundation for this informative piece.
Krauthammer smarter than obama...
From David P. in S.C.
"[Barack Obama is] certainly not a very good debater. He showed it again [last] Monday night. Obama lost. His tone was petty and small. ... That spirit led Obama into a major unforced error. When Romney made a perfectly reasonable case to rebuild a shrinking Navy, Obama condescended: 'You mentioned ... that we have fewer ships than we did in 1916. Well, Governor, we also have fewer horses and bayonets, because the nature of our military's changed.' Such that naval vessels are as obsolete as horse cavalry? Liberal pundits got a great guffaw out of this, but the underlying argument is quite stupid. As if the ships being retired are dinghies, skipjacks and three-masted schooners. As if an entire branch of the armed forces -- the principal projector of American power abroad -- is itself some kind of anachronism. 'We have these things called aircraft carriers,' continued the schoolmaster, 'where planes land on them.' This is Obama's case for fewer vessels? Does he think carriers patrol alone? He doesn't know that for every one carrier, 10 times as many ships sail in a phalanx of escorts? Obama may blithely dismiss the need for more ships, but the Navy wants at least 310 and the latest Quadrennial Defense Review Independent Panel report says that defending America's vital interests requires 346 ships (versus 287 today). Does anyone doubt that if we continue, as we are headed, down to fewer than 230, the casualty will be entire carrier battle groups, precisely the kind of high-tech force multipliers that Obama pretends our national security requires?"
Charles Krauthammer is obviously much smarter than obama.  And Krauthammer isn't even the CinC.  I thought the CinC was 'sposed to know everything?
How weird is that?
Maybe I had it backward?  Perhaps it was the decline that led to the trade?
Stay safe.
Benghazi...
The whole thing is starting to unravel.  If it hits the MSM, I think that obama could be over.  I'm sure that his spinmeisters, as well as his protectors in the MSM, are working around the clock to protect their benefactor.
I'm not sure if any amount of spin can help him at this point.  The US could become as volatile as the Middle East in the next few days if obama and his administration are irrefutably exposed as the traitors they are.  If The People begin to understand the crimes that have been perpetrated upon them.  Imagine the possibilities...
There has been so much dangerous disinformation and so many lies put forth by the current corrupt administration and obama's lap dogs in the media that it should be very easy to prove that nothing but lies are coming out of the White House.  It has been nothing but lies from obama and his minions since the beginning.  It should be almost easy to terminate the current administration and to shame his protectors in the media, if only the questions surrounding Benghazi and the Middle East are presented tomorrow on the Sunday morning news shows.
And, if these issues do hit the Sunday morning news shows, if the media stops shirking it's responsibility to the people of this nation, his supporters will scream "racism".  It's the only defense, the only response, that they'll have in the face of the awful truth.  It matters not one iota that racism has nothing whatsoever to do with it.  Racism has never been a part of the opposition to the current criminal in the White House.   Racism is what put him in the White House.  Racism is what has allowed obama to do with impunity the things that he has done. But that doesn't matter either.
And you supporters of obama...  This is the price you have to pay for all the free shit.  There is always a price.  Nothing is free.  Karma is a Bitch.  She will always get her due.  Always.
Who is obama?  Does anyone care?  Does it really matter at this point?
I still believe that Americans need to sit down and consider how we got to where we are today.  We need to throw our political beliefs and biases out the window and, with open minds, really think about how we got here.  We have done it to ourselves.  We have spent years drinking the Kool-Aid.  We have believed the lies coming from whichever side's liars we wanted to believe.  We need to accept responsibility for the things we have done and for the things that we have allowed to happen.  Until we do that, we cannot move forward.
But I still believe that it's all a distraction.  Oh, it's real enough.  But it's still a distraction.
I believe that the same people who own obama own Romney.  Putting Romney in office will only slow the slide into oblivion.  It won't stop it.  The end goal is the same.  It's just that the method of getting there is different.  Those who own the politicians own Amerika.   It has been that way for a long time.
If you still believe that the politicians whom we elect to run this country, and therefore the country itself, aren't owned by someone else, you are either naive or stupid.
Meet the new boss.  Same as the old boss.
Ask yourself...
You have to ask yourself why there isn't much in the media any longer about the Benghazi attacks that claimed the life of US Ambassador Chris Stevens and the lives of 3 other Americans.  It's just been sorta swept under the rug and made to disappear.  Why is that?
Many questions have been raised in the "alternative media" regarding this incident.
Remember that obama and his gang of criminals lied about this for 2 weeks before they finally admitted that it was organized terrorist cells doing the attacking and killing.
obama and his thugs didn't tell the American people that a Predator drone circled the US Embassy compound, transmitting live video back to government officials, as the battle raged.  They knew, in real time, exactly what was happening.  They watched it happen, yet they did nothing to help.  The terrorists held Ambassador Stevens for nearly 7 hours before murdering him, according to some accounts.  Also, according to some accounts, the locals who had been hired to protect the Embassy dropped their weapons and ran when the battle broke out.  US Marines used to protect US Embassies.  WTF changed that?
We've all heard the stories about requests for more security in the months prior to the attack being ignored.
obama and his crew of Communists didn't send help from a US Navy battle group stationed just minutes away in the Med.  A QRF stationed in Southern Italy, an hour or so away, wasn't dispatched to help.
Why?
Something stinks about this whole thing.  Something smells real rotten.
It almost seems as though they were intentionally left hanging without support.
The pieces don't fit together yet.  There are more questions than answers.  I'm surprised obama isn't exercising executive privilege or something to cover his skinny black ass.
How long can obama's liberal base of lodes ignore his ineptness?  Perhaps it's more than being simply inept?
I think that there is so much corruption in the current administration that it will take years for the legal community and the historians to sort it out.
I wonder how much media attention it would be getting if Bush were still President?
Little Harold...
From Clem.
Little Harold attended a horse auction with his father. He watched as his father moved from horse to horse, running his hands up and down the horse's legs and rump, and chest. After a few minutes, Harold asked, 'Dad, why are you doing that?' His father replied, 'Because when I'm buying horses, I have to make sure that they are healthy and in good shape before I buy. Harold, looking worried, said, 'Dad, I think the UPS guy wants to buy Mom ....'
A new teacher was trying to make use of her psychology courses. She started her class by saying, 'Everyone who thinks they're stupid, stand up!' After a few seconds, Little Harold stood up. The teacher said, 'Do you think you're stupid, Harold?' 'No, ma'am, but I hate to see you standing there all by yourself!'
Harold watched, fascinated, as his mother smoothed cold cream on her face. 'Why do you do that, mommy?' he asked. 'To make myself beautiful,' said his mother, who then began removing the cream with a tissue. 'What's the matter, asked Harold 'Giving up?'
To save water Little Harold was taking a shower with his mother. He watched as his mother lathered her body with soap and finally pointed between her legs and asked, “Mommy what is that?” His mother replied, “It’s my beaver.” Little Harold replied, “Grandma’s beaver must have died.” “Why do you think Granma’s beaver died,” said his mother. “Because it’s tongue was hanging out,” replied Little Harold.
Libya and Lies
Oct 23, 2012
It was a little much when President Barack Obama said that he was "offended" by
the suggestion that his administration would try to deceive the public about
what happened in Benghazi. What has this man not deceived the public about?
Remember his pledge to cut the deficit in half in his first term in office? This
was followed by the first trillion dollar deficit ever, under any President of
the United States -- followed by trillion dollar deficits in every year of the
Obama administration.
Remember his pledge to have a "transparent" government that would post its
legislative proposals on the Internet several days before Congress was to vote
on them, so that everybody would know what was happening? This was followed by
an ObamaCare bill so huge and passed so fast that even members of Congress did
not have time to read it.
Remember his claims that previous administrations had arrogantly interfered in
the internal affairs of other nations -- and then his demands that Israel stop
building settlements and give away land outside its 1967 borders, as a
precondition to peace talks with the Palestinians, on whom there were no
preconditions?
As for what happened in Libya, the Obama administration says that there is an
"investigation" under way. An "on-going investigation" sounds so much better
than "stonewalling" to get past election day. But you can bet the rent money
that this "investigation" will not be completed before election day. And
whatever the investigation says after the election will be irrelevant.
The events unfolding in Benghazi on the tragic night of September 11th were
being relayed to the State Department as the attacks were going on, "in real
time," as they say. So the idea that the Obama administration now has to carry
out a time-consuming "investigation" to find out what those events were, when
the information was immediately available at the time, is a little much.
The full story of what happened in Libya, down to the last detail, may never be
known. But, as someone once said, you don't need to eat a whole egg to know that
it is rotten. And you don't need to know every detail of the events before,
during and after the attacks to know that the story put out by the Obama
administration was a fraud.
The administration's initial story that what happened in Benghazi began as a
protest against an anti-Islamic video in America was a very convenient theory.
The most obvious alternative explanation would have been devastating to Barack
Obama's much heralded attempts to mollify and pacify Islamic nations in the
Middle East.
To have helped overthrow pro-Western governments in Egypt and Libya, only to
bring anti-Western Islamic extremists to power would have been revealed as a
foreign policy disaster of the first magnitude. To have been celebrating
President Obama's supposedly heroic role in the killing of Osama bin Laden, with
the implication that Al Qaeda was crippled, would have been revealed as a farce.
Osama bin Laden was by no means the first man to plan a surprise attack on
America and later be killed. Japan's Admiral Yamamoto planned the attack on
Pearl Harbor that brought the United States into World War II, and he was later
tracked down and shot down in a plane that was carrying him.
Nobody tried to depict President Franklin D. Roosevelt as some kind of hero for
having simply authorized the killing of Yamamoto. In that case, the only hero
who was publicized was the man who shot down the plane that Yamamoto was in.
Yet the killing of Osama bin Laden has been depicted as some kind of act of
courage by President Obama. After bin Laden was located, why would any President
not give the go-ahead to get him?
That took no courage at all. It would have been far more dangerous politically
for Obama not to have given the go-ahead. Moreover, Obama hedged his bets by
authorizing the admiral in charge of the operation to proceed only under various
conditions.
This meant that success would be credited to Obama and failure could be blamed
on the admiral -- who would join George W. Bush, Hillary Clinton and other
scapegoats for Obama's failures.
Have we reached the Breaking Point...?
A good article by Victor Davis Hanson here.
Was it the blame-gaming — “Bush did it!,” ATMs are at fault, tsunamis are the culprit, no other administration has had such challenges, the euro meltdown is to blame, earthquakes shook our confidence — that finally turned the country off of Obama?
For the last two years, millions of Americans have grown, ever so insidiously, tired of Barack Obama and his administration. The Tea Party brought such frustrations to the fore. And now the debates — and the ability of Romney to show millions that he is a decent, competent alternative to Obama rather than the caricatured greedy white man of Obama’s sleazy ads — are closing the deal.
In the first debate, Romney was not just far better-informed and spoken, but far more likeable. Joe Biden’s frenzied rudeness was the sort of debate performance that mesmerizes one by its very boorishness, eliciting a weird reaction in the room like “Come over and check this out: I can’t believe the Vice President of the United States is trumping The Joker” (after all, the sick Joker is more entertaining than the sober and judicious Batman) — but within hours leaves a bitter aftertaste in the mouth of something along the lines of “Surely, we could have done better than that rude buffoon?”...
~~~

Go to the link above and read the whole thing.  It's interesting.  I have to ask myself "Is this really possible, or is it just wishful thinking?"

I hope he's right.  I also hope that the Romney/Ryan ticket is more substantial than I think they are.

Just more politicians doing what politicians do, which is taking care of each other and the monied elite while throwing a few crumbs to keep the natives from revolting.

Electing Romney and booting obama won't fix our problems.  The problem is bigger than the politicians.  Much bigger.

The problem is the people who allow the monied elite to claim ownership of the politicians, and thus the country.  The people who have allowed themselves to become so complacent that they just follow meekly along with whatever the politicians, or "the other party", propose.  The people who are too lazy to propose ideas of their own, people too meek to speak out.

Those people are us.  Americans.  More specifically, Conservative Americans.  Constitutionalist Americans.  We have become spineless and stupid.  We won't demand what we know to be right.  I'm convinced that a majority of us wouldn't know what was "right" if it bit us on the ass.  We have all done what the hippies of the '60s proposed.  We have tuned out.

Will booting obama save us?  I don't think so.  Will it get better?  It will seem like it, but it won't really change.  Not until we force change.  And forcing change will be a very difficult proposition.  Why?  Because the vast majority are lazy and are comfortable and do not want change.

Anyway...

Oath...

Please help me out here...

I can easily find the Oath of Enlistment for enlisted and commissioned members of the military.  Likewise, the Oath of Office for the President and many public officials.

I'm having a difficult time finding the Oath of Enlistment (or whatever it is being called) for the FEMA Youth Corps.  I have read articles recently about groups of FEMA Youth being "sworn in" at ceremonies in Anniston, Alabama and Vinton, Iowa but I can find no information on the oath that they swear.  I mean, being "sworn in" indicates the taking of an oath, right?

I find it odd that these groups even exist.  Well, I guess I should say that I find it odd that these groups haven't been on the front page of the papers and on the news at the top of every hour.  They haven't been reported in the media.  At least not to any great extent.  I would think that obama would want everyone to know about such a wonderful (apparently) humanitarian organization.  Sounds like a group he should be proud of and would want to share the details of with the world.

But me...  I just want to know the text of the oath that they swear.

Can anyone help me out?

Thanks in advance...

Bush's fault...

From Steve.  Steve and I served in Germany together.

For those who are listening to the liberals propagating the fallacy that everything is "Bush's Fault", think about this:

January 3rd, 2007 was the day the Democrats took over the Senate and the Congress.

At the time:
...

The DOW Jones closed at 12,621.77

The GDP for the previous quarter was 3.5%

The Unemployment rate was 4.6%

George Bush's Economic policies SET A RECORD of 52 STRAIGHT MONTHS of JOB GROWTH

Remember the day...

January 3rd, 2007 was the day that Barney Frank took over the House Financial Services Committee and Chris Dodd took over the Senate Banking Committee.

The economic meltdown that happened 15 months later was in what part of the economy?

BANKING AND FINANCIAL SERVICES!

Unemployment... to this CRISIS by (among MANY other things) dumping 5-6 TRILLION Dollars of toxic loans on the economy from YOUR Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac FIASCOES!

Bush asked Congress 17 TIMES to stop Fannie & Freddie - starting in 2001 because it was financially risky for the US economy.

And who took the THIRD highest pay-off from Fannie Mae AND Freddie Mac? OBAMA

And who fought against reform of Fannie and Freddie?OBAMA and the Democrat Congress

So when someone tries to blame Bush.

REMEMBER JANUARY 3rd, 2007.... THE DAY THE DEMOCRATS TOOK OVER!"

Budgets do not come from the White House. They come from Congress and the party that controlled Congress since January 2007 is the Democrat Party.

Furthermore, the Democrats controlled the budget process for 2008 & 2009 as well as 2010 &2011.

In that first year, they had to contend with George Bush, which caused them to compromise on spending, when Bush somewhat belatedly got tough on spending increases.

For 2009 though, Nancy Pelosi & Harry Reid bypassed George Bush entirely, passing continuing resolutions to keep government running until Barack Obama could take office. At that time, they passed a massive omnibus spending bill to complete the 2009 budgets.

And where was Barack Obama during this time? He was a member of that very Congress that passed all of these massive spending bills, and he signed the omnibus bill as President to complete 2009.

If the Democrats inherited any deficit, it was the 2007 deficit, the last of the Republican budgets. That deficit was the lowest in five years, and the fourth straight decline in deficit spending. After that, Democrats in Congress took control of spending, and that includes Barack Obama, who voted for the budgets.

If Obama inherited anything, he inherited it from himself.

In a nutshell, what Obama is saying is I inherited a deficit that I voted for and then I voted to expand that deficit four-fold since January 20th.

There is no way this will be widely publicized,unless each of us sends it on!

~~~~~~~~
Sounds pretty good.  I freely admit that I didn't "fact check" it.  Feel free to do so, if you'd like.  Personally, I like the sound of it and it seems perfectly plausible.  Based on my (mind like a steel trap) memory alone, I am confident that it is more true than false.
Another topic:
I had a friend ask me at work today what would happen if on, say November 2nd or so, Creepy Uncle Joe "decided" that his health might be a problem and decided to pull his name from the ballot?  And what if he was immediately replaced on the ballot by Hillary?
He asked "could they do that"?
I don't know if they could do that or not, but it is an intriguing scenario.  I wouldn't put anything past these asshats.  What would "we the people" do?  How would we vote?  (I know how I would vote.  I don't like Hillary any more than I like obama.  Perhaps even less)  But, how would "the people" vote?
What do you think?
I expected Ryan to be better.  He seemed unprepared for Uncle Joe being such a rude, obnoxious prick.  At least Ryan seemed sincere and tried to remain polite.  Have to give him points for that.
The moderator?  Who was she?  Didn't seem very neutral.
Ryan was right in his assessment though...  Using obama's own words:  "If you don't have a record to stand on you have to paint your opponent as a bad person and scare voters away..."
That's what Uncle Joe was trying to do.
It's all the obamanites have left.  Failed policies.  Suffocating debt.  Excuses.  Lies.  The blame game.
Did Uncle Joe really say that their two appointments to the Supreme Court were "open minded" and "without an agenda"?  Did he seriously say that?   Anyone who believes that is stoopid.
WASHINGTON — The State Department said Tuesday it never concluded that the consulate attack in Libya stemmed from protests over an American-made video ridiculing Islam, raising further questions about why the Obama administration used that explanation for more than a week after assailants killed the U.S. ambassador and three other Americans.
The revelation came as new documents suggested internal disagreement over appropriate levels of security before the attack, which occurred on the 11th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terror attacks on the U.S.
Briefing reporters ahead of a hotly anticipated congressional hearing Wednesday, State Department officials provided their most detailed rundown of how a peaceful day in Benghazi devolved into a sustained attack that involved multiple groups of men armed with weapons such as machine guns, rocket-propelled grenades and mortars over an expanse of more than a mile.
Detroit Rock City...
Detroit has it's share of problems.  Detroit is dangerous.  I wonder why Detroit doesn't make the news in the way that Chicago does?  Do you 'spose it's because Detroit has had Democrat mayors for over 50 years and they can't take care of the violence problems.  Or the economy problems.  I'm pretty sure that isn't the case.  It's Bush's fault.
Enter At Your Own Risk: Police Union Says ‘War-Like’ Detroit Is Unsafe For Visitors
(WWJ Photo/Kasey Stoddart)
Kathryn Larson Reporting Kathryn Larson
DETROIT (WWJ) – The men and women of the Detroit Police Department believe the city is too dangerous to enter, and they want citizens to know it.
Detroit Police Officer Association (DPOA) Attorney Donato Iorio said officers are holding the “Enter At Your Own Risk” rally at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in front of Comerica Park to remind the public that the officers are overworked, understaffed, and at times, fearful for their lives.
“Detroit is America’s most violent city, its homicide rate is the highest in the country and yet the Detroit Police Department is grossly understaffed,” Iorio told WWJ’s Kathryn Larson. “The DPOA believes that there is a war in Detroit, but there should be a war on crime, not a war on its officers.”
Detroit police chief steps down amid sex probe
DETROIT (AP) - Detroit's police chief stepped down Monday after a week of embarrassing revelations about a sexual relationship with a subordinate, forcing the city to search for a fifth leader in four years for a department dealing with one of the nation's highest violent-crime rates.
Ralph Godbee was hired two years ago to replace a predecessor fired following an affair with a female officer who allegedly also had a relationship with Godbee. His departure extends the revolving door of leadership in a cash-strapped city. Detroit's next chief will be its 10th since 1991, and several of those were forced out amid allegations of wrongdoing.
"Not having a stable head makes the rest of it unstable," former Detroit Police Chief Isaiah McKinnon said of the musical chairs in the city's top cop's office. "The officers are going to go out and try to do their jobs, but you need a stable head."
Abbott & Costello on Unemployment...
From David P. is S.C.
Abbott & Costello on Unemployment
COSTELLO: I want to talk about the unemployment rate in America.
ABBOTT: Good Subject. Terrible Times. It’s 7.8%.
COSTELLO: That many people are out of work?
ABBOTT: No, that’s 16%.
COSTELLO: You just said 7.8%.
ABBOTT: 7.8% Unemployed.
COSTELLO: Right 7.8% out of work.
ABBOTT: No, that’s 16%.
COSTELLO: Okay, so it’s 16% unemployed.
ABBOTT: No, that’s 7.8%.
COSTELLO: WAIT A MINUTE.  Is it 7.8% or 16%?
ABBOTT: 7.8% are unemployed. 16% are out of work.
COSTELLO: If you are out of work you are unemployed.
ABBOTT: No, obama said you can’t count the “Out of Work” as the unemployed.  You have to look for work to be unemployed.
COSTELLO: BUT THEY ARE OUT OF WORK!!!
ABBOTT: No, you miss his point.
COSTELLO: What point?
ABBOTT: Someone who doesn’t look for work, can’t be counted with those who look for work. It wouldn’t be fair.
COSTELLO: To whom?
ABBOTT: The unemployed.
COSTELLO: But they are ALL out of work.
ABBOTT: No, the unemployed are actively looking for work. Those who are out of work gave up looking and if you give up, you are no longer in the ranks of the unemployed.
COSTELLO: So if you’re off the unemployment roles, that would count as less unemployment?
ABBOTT: Unemployment would go down. Absolutely!
COSTELLO: The unemployment number just goes down because you don’t look for work?
ABBOTT: Absolutely it goes down. That’s how obama gets it to 7.8%.  Otherwise it would be 16%. He doesn’t want you to read about 16% unemployment.
COSTELLO: That would be tough on his reelection…
ABBOTT: Absolutely.
COSTELLO: Wait, I got a question for you. That means there are two ways to bring down the unemployment number?
ABBOTT: Two ways is correct.
COSTELLO: Unemployment can go down if someone gets a job?
ABBOTT: Correct.
COSTELLO: And unemployment can also go down if you stop looking for a job?
ABBOTT: Bingo.
COSTELLO: So there are two ways to bring unemployment down, and the easier of the two is to have obama's supporters stop looking for work.
ABBOTT: Now you’re thinking like the obama Economy Czar.
COSTELLO: I don’t even know what the hell I just said!
ABBOTT: Now you’re thinking like obama.
Too far...
If you are honest with yourself you know, and will admit, that it has gone too far.
There is only one way to fix it.  And that way isn't guaranteed to succeed.
Two fifths of the population are in total agreement with the "progressive" nature of the current administration.  Most of that group believe that obama hasn't done enough to "share the wealth".  He hasn't given away enough free shit.  He hasn't taken enough from the "rich" and given it to those who aren't willing to work for it..  Those who have done absolutely nothing to deserve it.  They want him to "do more".  There are no facts that you can show them, no constitutional violation, no cronyism, no crime perpetrated by this administration that will change their minds.  They love obama.
Does that frighten you?
Another two fifths of the population remember what America was like before it was hijacked by the Progressives.  They remember people being responsible for themselves and accountable for their actions.  They remember a time before there were laws to prevent you from doing anything and everything and before there were laws telling you what you must do and when you must do it.  A time when there was actually some liberty in America.  A time when, even though you may have disagreed with your neighbor, you still respected him.  It wasn't that long ago...   But it's gone.  And we are old.
Can you tell me of one thing in your life that the government doesn't have some form of control over?
The final fifth of the population takes considerable pride in being "independent".  These are the people who won't make a decision until they know which way the wind blows.  They want to end up on the "winning" side.  Unable to commit.  Unwilling to commit.  Always searching for the best deal for themselves.
Then there is the Political Class.  The Ruling Class.  The Elites.  Who are they?  Where do they come from?  Who owns them?  They don't care about you and me.  They will never do any more for us than they absolutely have to do in order to assure their continued membership in the ruling class.
Do you think that the RNC gives a fat rat's ass about you?  If you believe that they do, ask yourself how Romney was chosen to run against obama.
It's fucked up.  There is only one way to fix it.  And that isn't guaranteed.
Little Johnny...
LITTLE JOHNNY JOKE
The kids filed into class Monday morning. They were all very excited.
Their  weekend assignment was to sell something, then give a talk on
salesmanship.
Little Sally led off. "I sold Girl Scout cookies and I made $30" she
said proudly, "My sales approach was to appeal to the customer's civil
spirit and I credit that approach for my obvious success."
"Very good, Sally", said the teacher.
Little Debbie was next. "I sold magazines" she said, "I made $45 and I
explained to everyone that magazines would keep them up on current
events."
"Very good, Debbie", said the teacher.
Eventually, It was Little Johnny's turn. The teacher held her breath.
Little Johnny walked to the front of the classroom and dumped a box
full of cash on the teacher's desk. "$2,467", he said.
"$2,467!" cried the teacher, "What in the world were you selling?"
"Toothbrushes", said Little Johnny.
"Toothbrushes", echoed the teacher, "How could you possibly sell
enough toothbrushes to make that much money?"
"I found the busiest corner in town", said Little Johnny, "I set up a
Dip & Chip stand and I gave everybody who walked by a free sample."
They all said the same thing, "Hey, this tastes like dog poop!" Then I
would say, "It is dog poop. Wanna buy a toothbrush?"
I used the President Obama method of giving you some crap, dressing it
up so it looks good, telling you it's free and then making you pay to
get the bad taste out of your mouth."
Little Johnny got five stars for his assignment. Bless his heart.
If...
If I were an intelligent obama supporter (oxymoron, I know) I'd be sitting back right now wondering what the fuck just happened.
He is the President of the United States and he just gave a sub-par performance that a member of a good high school debate team wouldn't be terribly proud of.  I expected him to be better.
 I almost felt sorry for the man.  He got his ass whipped.  Bad.
Just to clarify...  I'm not a big fan of Mittens, either.  He strikes me as an elitist.  They all do, really.
I'm also not thrilled about being put in the position of having to vote for someone I don't really like for the job.
Mittens was doing fairly good on stressing State's Rights.  Right up to the point where he said that the federal government should be involved in education.
Anyway...  I'm underwhelmed.
Castaway...
Operation Fast and Furious was not the only gun walking program. Univision shed some light on another, Operation Castaway, centered around Hugh Crumpler, a 65 year old Vietnam War vet. Guns from this operation were found in Honduras, Puerto Rico, and Colombia.
Mr. Crumpler sold guns at gun shows in Orlando, FL and noticed how certain people would show up at every gun show. ATF placed him under review because of multiple sales reports to certain clients. One of his clients, Ramon Lopez, had links to the criminal organization Torres Sabana in Puerto Rico. Another, Jesus Puentes, gave weapons to Venezuela and Colombia, which landed in the hands of the Envigado Office, a ring of hitmen in Medellin. His biggest clients were the Guillen brothers from Honduras, the country with the highest per capita murder rate in the world.
ATF detained Mr. Crumpler after six months and encouraged him to become an informant. He would become the best informant they had in 18 months. However, he claimed the ATF would not play fair. Like in Fast and Furious, it appears the ATF made no attempt to interdict the weapons.
“When the ATF stopped me, they told me the guns were going to cartels,” he told Univision. “At that point, that was the first time I knew they were going to cartels. The ATF knew before I knew, and had been following me for a considerable length of time. They could not have followed me for two months like they said they did and [sic] not know the guns were going somewhere and not want for that to be happening.”
“They knew the guns were going to cartels and they wanted them to go to cartels.”
ATF didn’t notify Mexico about Fast & Furious and it turns out they didn’t tell Honduras.
“I got in touch with the US Embassy here in Tegucigalpa,” said Oscar Alvarez, former Security Minister of Honduras. “They tell me they have no knowledge as an Embassy of any official operation.”
Guns from Castaway were found in Colombia. Fast and Furious guns were found in the same raid
This isn't new news.  It was brought up, and subsequently swept under the rug, a year or so ago.  Barely a tiny blip on the radar.  The media doesn't want to touch it any more than they wanted to touch Fast & Furious.  Why is that?
It's a problem.  Actually, it's a couple of problems.
The criminal government is Problem # 1.
The complicit media is Problem # 2.
The American people have to depend upon an honest, unbiased media to report about whats going on in our neighborhoods, our country, and the world.  Without that honest, unbiased reporting we cannot know what is happening and therefore cannot make the proper decisions regarding the issues of the day.
It has been this way for a very long time.
The media reports what the government wants them to report.  They try to hide from us what the government doesn't want reported.
Our society is rotten to the core.
How do we plan to fix it?
Child soldiers...
WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama issued a new executive order last week to fight human trafficking, touting his administration's handling of the issue.
"When a little boy is kidnapped, turned into a child soldier, forced to kill or be killed — that's slavery," Obama said in a speech at the Clinton Global Initiative. "It is barbaric, and it is evil, and it has no place in a civilized world. Now, as a nation, we've long rejected such cruelty."
But for the third year in a row, Obama has waived almost all U.S. sanctions that would punish certain countries that use child soldiers, upsetting many in the human rights community.
Last week Obama issued a presidential memorandum waiving penalties under the Child Soldiers Protection Act of 2008 for Libya, South Sudan and Yemen, penalties that Congress put in place to prevent U.S. arms sales to countries determined by the State Department to be the worst abusers of child soldiers in their militaries. The president also partially waived sanctions against the Democratic Republic of Congo to allow some military training and arms sales to that country.
Human rights advocates saw the waivers as harmful to the goal of using U.S. influence to urge countries that receive military assistance to move away from using child soldiers and contradictory to the rhetoric Obama used in his speech.
"After such a strong statement against the exploitation of children, it seems bizarre that Obama would give a pass to countries using children in their armed forces and using U.S. tax money to do that," said Jesse
Eaves, the senior policy advisor for child protection at World Vision.
The Obama administration doesn't want to upset its relationships with countries that it needs for security cooperation, but the blanket use of waivers is allowing the administration to avoid the law's intent, which was to use force the U.S. government to put a greater priority on human rights and child protection when doling out military aid, he said.
"The intent in this law was to use this waiver authority only in extreme circumstances, yet this has become an annual thing and this has become the default of this administration," Eaves said.
Advertisement
The Romney campaign has made Obama's record on human rights a feature of its foreign-policy critique, with top advisers accusing the president of giving the issue less importance.
"Barack Obama has broken with a tradition that goes back to Woodrow Wilson about human rights and values animating our foreign policy. This administration has not been an effective voice for human rights," said Romney campaign senior adviser for foreign policy Rich Williamson, who also served as George W. Bush's special envoy to Sudan, told The Cable in July.
Bush signed the child-soldiers law in 2008. It prohibits U.S. military education and training, foreign military financing and other defense-related assistance to countries that actively recruit troops under the age of 18. Countries are designated as violators if the State Department's annual Trafficking in Persons report identifies them as recruiting child soldiers. The original bill was sponsored by Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill.
Jo Becker, advocacy director for the children's rights division at Human Rights Watch, told The Cable that where the United States has used some pressure, such as in Congo, where there was a partial cutoff of military aid last year, there was a positive effect.
"After years of foot-dragging, Congo is close to signing a U.N. action plan to end its use of child soldiers," she said. "But in other countries with child soldiers, including South Sudan, Libya and Yemen, the U.S. continues to squander its leverage by giving military aid with no conditions."
NSC Spokesman Tommy Vietor did not respond to multiple requests for comment.
Now we know...
INTERESTING TURN OF EVENTS:
        Who knows if this is true but it's too funny not to read...and forward
        This clears up a huge question---1947
        Some of you will recall that on July 8, 1947,
        a little more than 64 years ago,
        numerous witnesses claim that
        an Unidentified Flying Object, (UFO),
        with five aliens aboard,
        crashed onto a sheep and mule ranch
        just outside Roswell , New Mexico .
        This is a well known incident
        that many say has long been covered-up
        by the U.S. Air Force,
        as well as other Federal Agencies
        and Organizations.
        However, what you may NOT know is that
        in the month of April, year 1948,
        nine months after the historic day,
        the following people were born:
        Barrack Obama Sr.
        Albert A. Gore, Jr.
        Hillary Rodham
        William J. Clinton
        John F. Kerry
        Howard Dean
        Nancy Pelosi
        Dianne Feinstein
        Charles E. Schumer
        Barbara Boxer
        Joe Biden
        This is the consequence
        of aliens breeding
        with sheep and jack-asses.
        I truly hope this bit of information
        clears up a lot of things for you.
        It certainly did for me.
        And now you can stop wondering why
        they support the bill to help all Illegal Aliens.
A Perfect Day...
From David P. in S.C.
By Lt.Col. Dave Grossman, USA, ret.
Author of On Killing, and On Combat
The “Perfect Day” and our terrorist opponents’ possible plans for future attacks
I have been told (by those conducting interviews with captured enemy combatants) that when we ask them “What is coming next?” they sometimes refer to the “Perfect Day.” You cannot understand what they are talking about if you do not understand the historical reference.
The Sepoy Mutiny in India, in 1857, is an example of a Perfect Day. This was a spontaneous uprising by Muslims (and Hindus), with everyone giving the British their “best shot.” Nannies killed the kids, cooks poisoned the food, and shop owners murdered the British ladies as they came into the shop. And soldiers (sometimes complete units) killed their British officers and then used their weapons to attack the British.
The current politically correct term for the Sepoy Mutiny is “The First Indian Rebellion.” (You can look it up on Wikipedia, where the event has been completely PC filtered and revised.)
The First Indian Rebellion is, to them, George Washington, Abe Lincoln, and the Alamo all rolled into one. And 99% of Westerners have never heard about it.
In their dreams and fond imaginations, this is what will happen across all of the “Crusader nations” who are in Afghanistan. Pick a day, and everyone gives it their best shot. If just one in 1,000 of the Islamic people in our nations answer the call to Jihad, it will still be thousands of attackers … Some will opt for a “John Muhammad/Malvo,” whacking people from the trunks of cars, others for a Virginia Tech lone gunman in the school. Others will attack school buses, nannies will kill the kids, clerks will kill customers, cooks (in the elementary school?) will poison the Kool-aid, etc., etc.
The enemy thinks big, and we (with wishful thinking compounded by ignorance of their history) keep thinking small. The goal of this Perfect Day, in addition to terror, is to make us imprison (intern) our Islamic populations (as we did to the Japanese in WWII), thus making this a “war against Islam” instead of the current war against terrorist groups and Islamist fundamentalists.
The idea of the Perfect Day goes way back in their culture. Look at the Book of Esther in the Bible. It takes place in Iran (ancient Persia), where the Jews are in captivity. Haman gets permission to kill all the Jews on a certain day. The whole book is about how they turned that around and killed all of Haman’s people on that day.
This is the terrorists’ dream. Our goal is to prevent it through careful study and understanding of their history and culture, assimilation (the French are an excellent example of what not to do in this area), and (most importantly) deterrence and detection, which is what I teach in my classes.
The enemy can be deterred! They fear one thing: They fear failure! They are not afraid to die; some of them want to die. But they desperately do not want to die for nothing! And our goal is to win a battle in the minds of millions of potential terrorists in our nation, who are asking the key questions: Can I succeed? Can I get a body count?
The key question we should ask is, Why don’t they do this to Israel? The answer isthat the terrorists would love to! But Israel is an armed society. The terrorist is largely deterred from this action by Israel’s level of preparation. Until we reach the level of armed citizenry represented by Israel (and the sooner the better!) we are very vulnerable to this kind of attack.
In particular, we can see that states like Illinois (the only state with absolutely no concealed carry for anyone, anyhow, ever), or California, Massachusetts, Hawaii and others (with very stringent and limited concealed-carry laws) are the most likely targets for this kind of attack.
The time may come when, like Israel, we need armed riders on every school bus and armed guards in every school and every day-care center. And the only way that we can do so is, like Israel, to depend on armed citizens and armed teachers to protect their children.
The millions of Americans who are buying guns are not foolish. I would submit that they are doing the one thing that individual citizens can do, and that is to arm themselves.
This is America. When faced with a threat, we don’t take away rights; we give you more rights! But with rights come responsibilities. We give you the right to purchase and carry weapons, and you have the responsibility to train with these weapons!
So, let me conclude with a series of quotes from national leaders who have been in similar circumstances.
“Cogito, ergo armatum sum: I think, therefore I am armed.”
-Anon.
****
Our forefathers knew that it is not enough to just have a weapon, it is also vital to be trained in the proper use of that weapon. In 1349, King Edward III of England told the citizens of London that their “skill of shooting” was being neglected, and he proclaimed that “every one of the said city, strong in body, at leisure times on holidays, use in their recreation bow and arrows, or pellets or bolts, and learn and exercise the art of shooting … that they do not, after any manner apply themselves to the throwing of … handball, football, cambuck, or cockfighting, nor suchlike vain plays which have nor profit in them.”
****
In 1457, King James II of Scotland banned the game of golf from the hills on which it was created. He argued that golf was a danger to national security as it distracted his soldiers from practicing their archery.
His grandson, James IV, a keen golfer, lifted the ban in 1502. Eleven years later, in the battle of Flodden against the English, Scotland suffered its worst ever military defeat.
Wall Street Journal, 18 Aug ’09
*****
In 1636 a frustrated General Court of the Massachusetts Bay Colony unanimously passed an ordinance that said:
Whereas many complaints have been made to this Court, of the greatest neglect of all sorts of people of using the lawful and necessary means for their safety, especially in this time of so great danger from Indians, it is therefore ordered that no person shall travel above one mile from his dwelling without arms; upon pain of twelvepence for every default.
Being unarmed was considered negligent! Self protection was not just a personal responsibility, it was a duty to the community! And for over a century after the danger from hostile Indians was eliminated, there was no suggestion that this ordinance be repealed. A century and a half later, those people were the leaders of the armed rebellion that created the United States!
A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercise, I advise the gun. While this gives moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise and independence to the mind.
Games played with the ball and others of that nature are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be the constant companion of your walks.
Thomas Jefferson to his nephew Peter Carr,
August 19, 1785
****
Teddy Roosevelt said, while he was President, that:
We should establish shooting galleries in all the large public and military schools, should maintain national target ranges in different parts of the country, and should in every way encourage the formation of [shooting] clubs throughout all parts of the land… It is unfortunately true that the great body of our citizens shoot less and less as time goes on.
To meet this [challenge] we should encourage … practice … by every means in our power. Thus, and not otherwise, may we be able to assist in preserving the peace of the world. Fit to hold our own against the strong nations of the earth, our voice for peace will carry to the ends of the earth.
Unprepared and therefore unfit, we must sit dumb and helpless to defend ourselves, protect others, or preserve peace. The first step — … to avert war if possible, and to be fit for war if it should come — is to teach our men to shoot.
****
Today we need a nation of minute men; citizens who are not only prepared to take up arms, but citizens who regard the preservation of freedom as a basic purpose of their daily life and who are willing to consciously work and sacrifice for that freedom. The cause of liberty, the cause of America, cannot succeed with any lesser effort.
President John F. Kennedy, 1961
