On gun control and seizing absolute power...

"Today, Germany’s Grundgesetz (Basic Law) includes the following
provision: “When other avenues are not open, all Germans have the right to resist
attempts to impose unconstitutional authority.” If the Nazi experience teaches
anything, it teaches that totalitarian governments will attempt to disarm their subjects
so as to extinguish any ability to resist crimes against humanity."

This is a long article that I came across while researching something else.  It is a historical article written by an American attorney who practices constitutional law here in the United States.  It is based on the research of records of the period in question that were found in Germany as well as interviews with people who lived in Germany during this period.  Like I said, it's a long article and quite an interesting read.  I think you'll start making some comparisons as you read it...  It's well researched and footnoted.
