Rookie Cop Reportedly Berated, Called 'A Rat' For Arresting Off-Duty Officer

By David Schepp , Posted May 30th 2012 @ 12:55PM

toronto rookie cop arrests officer

Toronto police officer Andrew Vanderburgh felt he was doing the right thing more than two years ago when he arrested an off-duty fellow officer for drunk driving.

But after the Nov. 28, 2009 arrest, Vanderburgh was "harassed and berated" by fellow officers for seemingly violating an unwritten code among officers to remain loyal to each other, the Toronto Star reports. Other officers reportedly called Vanderburgh names, including "rat."

The off-duty cop, Breton Berthiaume, was charged with impaired driving and having a blood alcohol level of more than 0.08 percent, according to an internal police disciplinary ruling.

Berthiaume reportedly had been driving erratically when Vanderburgh (pictured above) pulled him over. The arresting officer then took Berthiaume to the nearest police station where his blood alcohol level could be tested.

Some officers witnessing the arrest "took exception to a police officer being charged or investigated," prosecutor Mary-Anne Mackett told a court that heard Berthiaume's case this week.

A judge who previously ruled in the case in a pre-trial hearing said that an officer witnessing the incident "refused to assist Constable Vanderburgh in the arrest and preparation of paperwork at [the police station]."
Later that evening another officer, James Little, followed Vanderburgh as he left the station in his patrol car and pulled him over for purportedly running a red light, giving him a ticket.

The ticket was eventually dismissed and Little pleaded guilty to "discreditable conduct" and was ordered to forfeit 20 days' pay.

Two other officers, including a staff sergeant who failed to intervene during Little's retaliatory action, were also disciplined and were docked as much as 20 days' pay.

We had a local police officer stop another officer here for DUI a couple of years ago.  The guy was drunk as a skunk.  He was arrested and taken to jail.  He was found guilty and, contrary to state law, given probation.  No loss of license, no high risk insurance, no drunk driver class.  Probation.  Never even suspended.  I never could figure out how that works...

Mittens...

So Romney has the Republican nomination "all wrapped up"?  BFD.

Another election that will allow us the opportunity to vote for the candidate that the Party apparatchik chooses.  Not because he's the best candidate (he's not), but because it's "his turn".   Because he will follow the party line that his handlers choose for him.  It assures that the status quo is maintained.  I think we all knew this would happen.  We have no say in it.  It is decided for us.  A long time ago.

Will it benefit "The People"?  I guess that depends on how you define "The People".  Rank and file Americans?  No, most likely not.  The political movers and shakers?  I'm sure that they will remain quite comfortable and quite above it all.  Life won't change much for them.  Nor will it change much for the rest of us.  Different faces.  Not much else.

I still wonder if we'll even see an election in November.  I guess we'll just have to wait to find out, eh?

I pray that he isn't considering Trump for his veep.

I don't like it much.

Illegal cavity searches...

Milwaukee police accused of performing illegal body cavity searches

Seven officers and a supervisor at the Milwaukee police department have had their badges taken away after allegations surfaced that police have been conducting body cavity searches on suspects with no authority to do so.
Reports of officers arresting suspects then subjecting them to cavity searches first surfaced in local media in March. On Monday, after getting access to a police report, The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported that officers allegedly performed these searches on a routine basis.
One Milwaukee officer, Michael Vagnini, "had a reputation" for forcing suspects he believed had drugs in their body cavities to bend over for him, said defense attorney Alex Cossi, who handled a July 2011 case that alleges Vagnini searched his client and another suspect in the booking room.

Read the rest here.

This would be funny if it weren't so disgusting:

Mike Crivello with the Milwaukee Police Association told Fox 6 Now that the public shouldn't condemn the city's entire police department.

"We don't want the community to rush to judgement on something that may not exist,” Crivello said.

~~~~~
From the article:  "Police chief Edward Flynn said in a news conference in March the cavity search complaints go back a couple of years."
Seriously?  And these ass-clowns have been allowed to continue to "police" their fellow citizens?  I hate to say it, but that's fucked up and indicative of cover-up and corruption.
And folks wonder why people don't thrust the police.  Seriously.  They really do wonder.  Well, some people wonder.
These are the people who believe that they have some "legal authority" over you.  They want to confront you and make demands of you and they want to watch you dance.
Karma, baby.
U.S. Drone Policy: Standing Near Terrorists Makes You A Terrorist
The Huffington Post  |  By Posted: Updated: 05/29/2012 9:00 pm
The Obama administration has in turn been secretive about its use of targeted drone strikes, boasted about the program's success, and fended off critics who say the strikes are killing and injuring too many civilians. A New York Times story published Tuesday has the administration's human rights critics buzzing again. A key revelation comes near the end of the article, written by Jo Becker and Scott Shane, under the heading, "'They Must All Be Militants.'"
Is Regents of the University of California v. Bakke, a 1978 case rejecting academic racial quotas, the smoking gun behind Obama’s Kenyan identity? *UPDATED*
Barack Obama has kept carefully hidden all of his college records.  Many of us have assumed that this secrecy is because those papers show that he took nothing but Leftist Mickey Mouse classes and ended up with lousy grades.
Now that we know that Obama marketed himself to publishers as a Kenyan, though, we’re beginning to suspect that the papers hide, not only academic mediocrity, but the same Kenyan identity Obama was using to market himself in the publishing world....
What does it mean?  Nothing.  Nothing other than the fact that obama is a liar.  The people around him are liars.
Or it means everything.
I wonder what historians will say about him after all is said and done and he slithers away into obscurity?  Will his life's records be released so that we can see the joke that has been perpetrated on us?  Do we know any more about him today than we did 4 years ago?  7 years ago?  10?
I find it hilarious that the publishing company that posted his bio in '91, (for a book that he never wrote)  stating that he was born in Kenya, is now saying that it was a mistake and that they don't know how it happened.  Seriously?
It happened because it's what obama told you.  Duh!
It served a purpose, at the time.  That's the way he is.  He will say anything if it serves the purpose.  At the time.
Everyone knows it.  His worshipers  idolators  followers supporters don't believe it because they don't want to.  I think that, deep down, they know it.  They just can't admit it.  It's hard to admit that you've been deceived by someone who told you all the things you wanted to hear.  And they weren't true.  It's all about the "free stuff".  Amazing how easily you'll give up freedom for free stuff.
I don't know any truths about obama's past.  Neither do you.  I'm not sure that even he can discern truth from fiction regarding his own life.  Who is he?  Where does he come from?
Ah well.  If we survive this administration, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for this country.
Terrorist activity...
The following is a comment that I left over at Curtis' blog.  I liked it so much I decided to make a post out of it here at my own blog.
Schools, shopping malls, hospitals, movie theaters, day care centers, churches on a Sunday morning, high school sports venues, an intersection on an Interstate Highway, downtown in any big city at rush hour...
Our borders are wide open.  Anyone can come in undetected.  Our cities and highways are wide open.  Any terrorist could go wherever they wanted to once they were here.  If there were a "serious" terrorist threat the above listed targets of opportunity would have been hit by now.  Many times over.  They have little or no security.  Low hanging fruit ripe for the plucking.  Why would a terrorist try to hijack or down an aircraft, or any other mode of public transportation,  when they could get any of the above targets with virtually no risk to themselves?
Every "terrorist" activity in recent years has been stopped before it started because the FBI or the CIA had someone "under cover" on the inside directing the "terrorists".  Never anything to worry about.  No danger to the public.  Do you find anything suspicious about that?  :)  Perfectly scripted fantasy.
The Amerikan citizen is the victim of the greatest hoax ever perpetrated in this country.  A hoax perpetrated by our own government.  And 90% of the people are too stupid to see what is going on before their very eyes.
Control, baby, it's all about control.  And the Amerikan citizen eats this shit up.
Anyway...
All you have to do is think about it and apply a little logic.
The terrorists that our government is supposedly "protecting" us from have no qualms about setting off a suicide bomb in a crowded bazaar in some 9th century middle eastern city or village.  They have no qualms about exploding IEDs as their target drives by.  It's the way they operate.  They don't blow up airplanes on a regular basis.
Don't you think that if they really wanted to get us, they'd do it the same way here as they do in their own countries?  Some middle eastern ass-clown flies into Columbia, makes his way to Mexico, picks up some explosives and Fast and Furious weapons along the way, then makes his way to some city in this country.  He lays low for a few days, watching, getting the lay of the land...  Then he strikes.  Kills a bunch of kids at a soccer game or people in a church on a Sunday morning.  He then drives down the road 20 miles and rents a room for a few days before heading back to Columbia via Mexico.  Or he blows himself up with his targets and gets his promised virgins.  It wouldn't take much planning.
Of course, he might run into Joe SixPack, who happens to be carrying...  That could spoil his plans right then and there.  Without the involvement of the government.  Whoa!  :)
Point being, if a terrorist wanted to do damage and kill people in this country, if he wanted to get our attention, he wouldn't get on an airplane somewhere in the United States so that he could blow it out of the sky.  That's been done before.  If he's smart he'll try a different approach.  Why would he attempt trying to blow up an airplane or a subway train when it would be so much less risky to do a thousand other things that would get just as much attention, create just as much rage, without the risk?
How long before we have men in black BDUs carrying automatic weapons roving through our malls, standing at our schools, watching over our worship services?  Just to protect us, ya know.
I'm not saying that there aren't threats out there.  I'm not saying that there aren't people who would love the opportunity to do us harm.  I believe that those people do exist.  I'm saying that there is no legitimate reason for our government to violate or suspend our rights in order to "protect" us from a bogey man who is probably the figment of some bureaucrat's or some politician's imagination.
If it was going to happen, it would have happened.
Its been said a thousand times in a thousand different places...  They are prepping us for the take-over that is coming.  Think about that, apply a little logic, and tell me what the other possibilities are.  Then tell me who the real terrorists are.
To borrow a phrase from a comment on another blog:
"Who is going to protect us from those who protect us?"
Forward!!!
Sadly, the new campaign slogan "Forward" being used today by obama's reelection campaign is far from original.  It's been used in the past.  The dark past.
I'm looking through some of my history books to find some other graphics relating to the use of the slogan "Forward".  I know that it was used on propaganda posters during the 30's and early war years by the Nazis, and I also seem to recall seeing it used by the Soviets, but can't remember the period.  I'd guess during the time of Stalin, though it may have been Lenin.  It seems to be a fairly common "rallying cry" for Communists throughout modern history.  I think its a "Progressive" thing.  I can't imagine the obama campaign wanting to be associated with these murderous Communist regimes of the past.
I know that his followers love the new slogan.
I have to give his campaign people the benefit of the doubt and say that they have no idea of the negative connotations from the past that the slogan "Forward" carries with it.  Personally, I think they are making a mistake.  Perhaps most Americans are too unfamiliar with history to recognize it.
I'm sure its just coincidence and that once someone points it out to them they will apologize for causing this offense and will then come up with something more appropriate to modern times.  They would never intentionally be this insensitive to the people of the earth who have been crushed by the people who have used this slogan in the past.
Ahhhh well.  I do realize that it must be difficult to come up with something original at this point in human existence.  It's all been used before.  Must make the designer's job hard :)
I'm waiting for the unicorn to start shitting Skittles.
Not just about guns...
Why It’s Not Just About Guns
by Sean on May 8, 2012
Being that I work at OOW, a manufacturer of firearms, I am constantly surrounded by “gun guys”- dudes who love firearms and make it both a passion and a profession.
Some people just plain don’t like guns. That’s fine… firearms, like anything else in life, aren’t for everyone. In fact, I am even more okay with people that don’t like firearms not buying, selling or carrying firearms around. Why should they?
So you have your “gun guys” (or girls) and those less enthused about the whole gun thing. In a strange way, they are two well defined groups.
Guns have become so pervasive in American culture that taking them away by trampling on the 2nd Amendment would be removing more than just the pieces of metal- even more than the loss of jobs, paychecks, and benefits- it would be castrating a part of who Americans are.
I can think of two good examples just outside my office door.
There’s Steve, the charismatic ex-Marine who just doesn’t know how to do things the wrong way.
Then there’s Chris, the good-’ole-boy with a twang in his voice and a twinkle in his eye.
Both men come from different places in life, but both are merged personally and professionally because of firearms. Each of them reached their passion in their unique way, but both can revel in it because of the freedoms that Americans have to buy, sell, own, and in some cases, manufacture firearms.
I cannot imagine how different these men, both licensed firearms owners, would be if these freedoms weren’t available.
Would Chris have applied his technical savvy and mechanical expertise to say, the automotive industry?
Would Steve have taken his by-the-book, rock-solid consistency to the health care field to improve lives?
It’s difficult to imagine the doppelgangers of these men without a handgun neatly cradled in a holster on their side.
It truly would be a parallel universe.
But some people still want to take these things away.
The truth is, gun dudes like Steve and Chris are the norm, not the exception.
A few bad apples here or there cannot underscore the fact that both men would, in an instant, help a stranger in dire need or a life-threatening situation, even if it meant drawing their firearm.
What makes them good men is that they would loathe doing so.
This is what you get by keeping firearms legal, and keeping the red tape from destroying the chance for good people- gun people- to arm themselves.
The gunmen that commit heinous shootings and senseless acts aren’t good people like Steve or Chris in the down home sense of the word… they are the people who, if a gun wasn’t available, would find another way to cause destruction. Their goal for causing pain supersedes the vessel in which they choose to carry out their endgame.
The resourceful nature of a mind bent on violence cannot be eradicated with legislation against firearms… no way, no how.
Yet gun opponents don’t realize that putting more barriers up to keep good people from arming themselves handicaps those same people in a game where the stakes can quickly be calculated in terms of life-and-death, against an opponent that sometimes doesn’t care about winning or losing.
Every time I pass a “gun guy”, I shudder at the thought of that parallel universe- one ruled by fear- where the wicked have a red carpet rolled out in front of them to terrorize good people.
The fact is I would feel much safer roaming the streets knowing that guys like Steve and Chris are out there with the means to protect themselves and each other. It’s because I know a bit about the character of these men that I can say something like that.
And that’s the overall point- people who take the time to lawfully arm themselves- to go through the process- are more often than not people of character. Every time I meet another “gun guy”, the point is driven home further.
These men wouldn’t just draw down on anybody- only those that want to use weapons as a tool for doing very, very bad things- because such a scenario represents something more than just a criminal act.
It’s an attack on a way of life.
The men that have holsters on their hips or a license and a concealed weapon are protecting more than just their lives, or the lives of the innocent- they are making a case for the preservation of the good things about this great country.
Take guns away and America is different- much weaker in a profound way.
Some of the fabric of this union is woven with the individual that adds to the collective strength of the community, not stands apart from it- the individual that says “I am going to protect myself and those I love” and arms themselves to do so.
How docile would the other scenario be?
It would be a paradigm shift from “I am going to protect myself and loved ones” to “somebody else protect me”.
This is the critical crossroads of the issue, and in a larger scope, a fulcrum for where America will soon be headed. One tilt in the wrong direction and the freedoms that make the “gun guys” the good guys can quickly vanish.
Every time I step outside of my office, I appreciate men like Steve and Chris more and more. I would trust these men with my safety if the need called for it.
Can I say the same about some faceless government goon charged with my protection?
Here’s toasting the freedoms of America, and the hope that I never have to answer that question.
-Sean
Trayvon Amendment...
From Jared
House to vote on Trayvon amendment
House Democrats said Tuesday they will offer an amendment to push to overturn stand-your-ground self-defense laws in states like Florida.
The amendment, which would withhold some grants from states that have such laws, will come as part of the House's debate on the Commerce Department spending bill.
"'Shoot-first' laws have already cost too many lives. In Florida alone, deaths due to self-defense have tripled since the law was enacted. Federal money shouldn't be spent supporting states with laws that endanger their own people," said Reps. Raul Grijalva of Arizona and Keith Ellison of Minnesota, the two Democrats who are offering the legislation. "This is no different than withholding transportation funds from states that don't enforce seat-belt laws."
Florida's law, which allows residents to use force in response to an attack without first having to retreat, has come under scrutiny after the nationally-polarizing death of teenager Trayvon Martin. George Zimmermann, a neighborhood watch volunteer, has been charged with murder in the case.
Shoot first laws?  Are you fucking kidding me?
All I can say is...  Seriously?
If y'all know how to write, start writing.  Your Congresscritter loves to hear from you.
Do it today.
Personally, I think one of the most important parts of a good Stand Your Ground law is the part that prevents you being sued in civil court if you've been adjudicated "not guilty" in a criminal court or if no charges are filed against you after a "justified" shooting.  Without this protection its a near 100% certainty that you will be sued by the perpetrator's family if you aren't charged or if you are found not guilty in criminal court.  Odds are that you will lose in civil court and that you will pay dearly, probably for the remainder of your life.  Look at it as another form of welfare.
The downside of Stand Your Ground laws is that the little bastards that commit the crimes are smart enough to tell the investigating officers that they feared for their lives and felt the need to shoot you.  They make you out to be the perp.  You're dead, so the thug can tell the cops that it went down anyway he wants to tell it and you aren't there to refute him (or her).  It works both ways.  Makes crimes much harder to prosecute.  That's why honest prosecutors and honest law enforcement don't like these laws.
Of course you will have situations like the Zimmerman/Martin affair where politics become much more important than justice.
On second thought, it looks like it's all politics.
The Web...
Updated May 6, 2012, 8:11 p.m. ET
The U.N. Wants to Run the Internet
Authoritarian regimes want to prohibit anonymity on the Web, making it easier to find and arrest dissidents.
By L. GORDON CROVITZ
Here's a wake-up call for the world's two billion Web users, who take for granted the light regulation of the Internet: A group of 193 countries will meet in December to reregulate the Internet. Every country, including China , Russia and Iran , gets a vote. Can a majority of countries be trusted to keep their hands off the Web?
The International Telecommunication Union (ITU), a low-profile United Nations organization, is overseeing this yearlong review of the Web. Its process is so secretive that proposals by member countries are confidential. The Obama admin istration has yet to nominate a negotiator for the U.S. side, even though Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said last year that his goal was "international control over the Internet."
Word of a few proposals has leaked out. Several authoritarian regimes want to prohibit people from being anonymous on the Web, which would make it easier to find and arrest dissidents.
Another proposal would replace Icann, the private domain system under contract to the U.S. Commerce Department, with a system run by the U.N. Yet another idea is a new fee, payable whenever users access the Web "internationally"—whatever that means for a global Web, especially as servers increasingly are in the cloud, nowhere and everywhere—which would restore payments governments lost when international telephone charges fell. This would undermine the seamless nature of the Web.
Description: crovitz
Getty Images
The ITU has long regulated long-distance fixed telephone calls and helps keep satellites in assigned orbits. But unlike phones and satellites, which need an international regulator to maintain order, the Web does not have fixed locations. Still, the ITU is the regulator of choice for countries aiming to control the Web.
"When an invention becomes used by billions across the world, it no longer remains the sole property of one nation, however powerful that nation might be," Hamadoun Toure, secretary-general of the ITU, says in "World War 3.0," an article in the May issue of Vanity Fair.
Mr. Toure, a native of Mali who was educated in Leningrad and Moscow during the Soviet era, adds: "There should be a mechanism where many countries have an opportunity to have a say. I think that's democratic. Do you think that's democratic?"
This argument against an open Web echoes the "new world information and communication order" movement of the Cold War, when the Soviet Union tried to legitimize censorship. Unesco was the U.N. agency used for these arguments, with the U.S. and Britain withdrawing from the U.N. agency in the 1980s.
"The idea of a conference among nation states to decide the future of the Internet is itself not in keeping with the spirit of the times," Rebecca MacKinnon told me last week. Her recent book, "Consent of the Networked," describes how important it's been for the Internet to develop outside of multinational organizations, with technology companies, engineering associations and civil society groups having as much influence as governments. As Ms. MacKinnon notes, "this is especially true since a large percentage of governments do not reflect the consent of the governed."
At a planning meeting last month on proposed regulations, Mr. Toure said that the agenda for the December meeting, which will be held in Dubai , would not include ITU "governance" of the Web. But he refused to have this reassurance written into the record, which is further evidence of a power grab.
In her book, Ms. MacKinnon, a former CNN bureau chief in Beijing , cites how in 2005 the U.N. had the bad judgment to choose Tunisia under President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali for a conference that China used to lobby for more U.N. power over the Internet. Tunisia was the first government overthrown during the Arab Spring. A follow-up U.N. meeting was held in 2009 in Egypt under Hosni Mubarak, also later removed from power.
"In the physical world, mechanisms of democratic politics and constitutional law have worked" to protect rights, Ms. MacKinnon wrote. "These mechanisms are no longer adequate for people whose physical lives now depend on what they can or cannot do (and what others can do to them) in the new digital spaces where sovereignty and power are ill-defined and highly contested."
Her suggestion is that multinational organizations continue with limited power over the Internet, while the technologists who maintain the plumbing of the Web share authority with human rights and other stakeholder groups interested in keeping the Web open. Applying the political-science notion of a social contract to the Web for "consent of the networked" is a novel approach. It recognizes that the Web is global, with an inherent ideology in favor of more transparency and greater access to information.
The Internet shows how creativity can flourish when government governs least. The Web allows permissionless innovation, where no one needs an operating license or other authorization. This doesn't leave much of a role for multinational groups like the U.N., even if some governments are plotting otherwise.
A version of this article appeared May 7, 2012, on page A15 in some U.S. editions of The Wall Street Journal, with the headline: The U.N. Wants to Run the Internet.
“Of every one hundred men, ten shouldn’t even be there, eighty are nothing but targets, nine are real fighters… We are lucky to have them… They make the battle.
Ah, but the one, one of them is a Warrior… and he will bring the others back.” (Heraclitus)
A story...
Subject:Natural Born Citizens
You, who worry about Democrats versus Republicans -- relax, here is our real problem.
 In a Purdue University classroom, students were discussing the
 qualifications to be President of the United States.
 It was pretty simple. The candidate must be a natural born citizen at least 35
 years of age who has resided in the United States for at least 14 years.
However, one girl in the class immediately started in on how unfair was the requirement to be a natural born citizen. In short, her opinion was that this requirement prevented many capable individuals from becoming president.
The class was taking it in, and let her rant on & on. Then MANY jaws hit the floor when she wrapped up her argument by stating:
"What makes a natural born citizen any more qualified to lead this country than one born by C-section?"
Yep, these are the same kinds of 18-year-olds that are now voting in our elections! They breed, they "know it all" and they walk among US!!!!!!
 Lord -- we need more help than we thought we did!
Like I said in the title, this is just a story.  Or is it?
Stay safe.
Matter of Fact...
As General LeMay said, we could "bomb them back to the stone age".
I don't think we'd have too far to go :)
Putin...
From: HuffPost
MOSCOW — A protest demonstration by at least 20,000 people on the eve of Vladimir Putin's inauguration as president boiled into a battle with police after protesters tried to split off from the approved venue and march to the Kremlin.
Club-wielding, helmeted officers seized demonstrators and hauled them to police vehicles, dragging some by the hair. Three leaders of the opposition movement that gained new life over the winter were among those arrested: Sergei Udaltsov, Alexei Navalny and Boris Nemtsov.
At least 250 people were arrested and 12 police officers injured, police said, according to Russian news agencies.
Previous installments of an unprecedented wave of protests that burst out after fraud-plagued parliamentary elections in December had been marked by fastidious order. The crowds, sometimes as big as 100,000 or more, had carefully kept to agreed-upon meeting-places and routes, even making a point of thanking police who stood guard in vast numbers, but did not interfere.
Sunday's break in that pattern likely reflected a sense of anger and impotence among protesters upset that Putin was handily elected to a new term in the Kremlin despite their defiance. Putin, who imposed a political system that stifled dissent and who dismissed the protesters as callow, pampered youths and Western stooges, will be sworn in for a six-year term Monday.
Sunday's demonstration started out peacefully, with protesters marching down a wide avenue to a square on an island near the Kremlin, where authorities had approved a gathering of up to 5,000.
But some demonstrators aimed to turn up the pressure by trying to split off and head to the Kremlin, on the other side of the river – and called for the crowd to head for the bridge leading to the Kremlin.
A phalanx of riot police blocked the approach to the bridge. After about an hour of tense confrontation, police began pushing protesters back toward the square and harshly detained some of them. Some demonstrators threw stones at the police and throat-irritating gas wafted through the air.
Read the rest here.
Read it, understand it.
It's what happens when "the people" protest the power.
Election fraud.
Government stifling dissent.
A sense of anger and impotence amongst the people.
Couldn't happen here, right?
LOL.
Coming soon to a locale near you.
Stay safe.
How weird is that...?
So...
5 guys in Ohio planned to blow up a bridge.  Nothing to worry about though...  The FBI was involved.  They gave the domestic terrorists the "bomb" and knew that it wouldn't really blow up.
Let's see...  A few months ago is was someone in Portland or Seattle who wanted to blow something up.  Was it a back pack bomb?  Again, there was never any danger because the FBI was involved in the planning and execution and knew that the "bomb" wouldn't actually go off.
Washington D.C. a few months ago.  Nothing to worry about there either.  The gun that Law Enforcement gave the perpetrator didn't actually work.  Safer for all involved that way.
Was there FBI involvement in the Times Square bombing?  I can't remember.
Just seems strange to me that there are so many "terrorists, foreign and domestic" being caught attempting to do bad things, but the FBI is always involved from the beginning, controlling the situation, so there is never really anything to worry about.
Be careful who you talk to.  :)  If nothing is happening, they make something happen.  It distracts people from the real issues and gives the appearance that they are actually doing something.
That's why this circus is called "The Greatest Show on Earth".
Of course, I could be wrong.  Perhaps I'm just cynical.
I feel so much more secure now.
Stay safe.
