In the old days...

  1. But we didn't have an Air force or any aircraft carriers. Most roads were not paved. We had iron lungs (if you could afford it) and polio. There was very little electricity and indoor plumbing was a luxury.

Too bad we can't live in 1913. paying taxes is not extortion. If you want to pay less, start electing politicians who promise to DO LESS. Convince your friends to do likewise. Tell your conservative friends that we would still be a very strong nation with a military half the size of the one we currently have. Tell your socialist friends they could afford all their free health care and college if we were spending it all on foreigners. Tell your libertarian friends they could have their weed/cigarettes/prostitution/buggery if insurance pools were allowed to charge them extra for their risky behavior.

The people need to be extorted because the people demand it. Change that, not the century.

  2. "The people need to be extorted because the people demand it." ~~~exactly. It's just the way it is.
