Talk show hosts are highly paid entertainers.
They are highly paid because a lot of people listen to (and believe) the things they have to say.
Advertisers love them because the folks who listen to (and believe) talk show hosts will buy the products being advertised simply because they are being advertised on the talk show host's show. Because people love their talk show hosts...
Have I mentioned that talk show hosts are entertainers? They are not credible, reliable, trustworthy news sources and should never be considered such. Never ever. Never.
One more time... (I learned this a hundred years ago as a young manager... the power of three...) Talk show hosts are nothing more than entertainers sharing (often controversial, unfounded, made up) opinions that will attract a certain defined demographic so that advertisers can sell their product. This process makes talk show hosts rich.
Some of them pose as newscasters. Some pose as erudite purveyors of information. All of them are hokey. They are simply satisfying the needs of their sponsors by helping sell product to unsuspecting consumers.
But, but, but... my guy is legit! No he isn't. Just like the folks proposing term limits (which would require a Constitutional amendment) for their elected representatives, they really want term limits for everyone but their own representatives. I know that's true because of the high reelection rates for political representatives at all levels. My guy is good. Your guys sucks. (although we did throw out the trash in Iowa District One this time around... ;) ) We talk about how screwed up the system is then we continue to elect the people who are screwing up the system. And we get rid of the guy who actually did what he said he would do regarding shaking up the system. But that is another subject for another post...
Ahhhhhhh... That's better.
Anyway...
Peace.
