It means what it says...

 

I hear the terms "reasonable" and "common sense" thrown around a lot by people who want to create laws, rules, and regulations that infringe upon our Second Amendment rights.  

I hear it so often that I had to go look it up.  Again. 

Nowhere in our Constitution or the BOR, nor in any original writings, do I see where our Founders used the terms "reasonable" or "common sense" in regards to anything.

Why do you suppose that is?

Well, 2 main reasons, would be my guess...

First, I suspect that words like "reasonable" and "common sense" were left out of the Constitution and other such documents because the terms are subjective.  The Constitution, BOR, Declaration of Independence, etc, are not subjective documents and were not created to be interpreted as such.

Second, I suspect that the Authors would never have considered using such terms as "reasonable" and "common sense"  when writing the road map to our future because they believed in their hearts that it was perfectly obvious that the future they were creating was based on reason and common sense.  They were simply recognizing the will of the Creator and the great potential for shenanigans by people empowered to govern.  (I can't help wondering if they ever considered that so many of those being governed could be so stupid?)

I suppose that the courts will spend the next several years interpreting the "meaning" and the "definition" of the term infringe...  Once they figure out what the founders meant, they will define the term to mean what they want it to mean.  ;)

Not privy to secret intel...

Well, I'm not privy to any secret intel floating back and forth between radical Right wing terrorist groups who want to attack the folks inside the US Capitol.

So much of what we hear defies reason.  It is almost impossible for me to believe that there is any true organized effort taking place to overthrow our government.

Yet, the Democrats in DC are keeping that false narrative alive.  

The folks in charge are asking for a permanent National Guard presence in DC to protect them.  Protect them from who?  From us.  Or so the story goes.  Seriously.  It seems to me that any logical person, any person who can think for himself outside the confines of the "Political Party Box", will see this for what it is.  

The Democrats are in charge.  And they are not going to let a "crisis go to waste".

And they control the House of Representatives.  And the Senate.  And the White House.

HR 8 and HR 1446 are real.  They will be debated on the floor of the house this week.  They have over 200 cosponsors.  Have you contacted your Representatives about these bills?  Have you told them "NO"?

Anyway...  The Democrats are in control.   Once they take your rights they become almost impossible to get back.  Better to stop them now than to try to change laws later.  Call them.  Email them.  Please.

I almost forgot...

My middle son was off work for a couple of weeks due to the incredibly cold weather so we spent some time together.  Went over by Sioux City one day and he bought a cabover Pete.  Had lunch in Cherokee at a bar and grill called the Gasthaus.  Amazing.

Another morning he messaged me and asked if I wanted to go to lunch at High Life.  He had woken me with his message and my brain said "High Life? In Des Moines?"  So I asked him, in Des Moines?  He said yeah.  Fuck, why not.  It's only two hours.  So we went to Des Moines for lunch.  Stopped at the gun shop on the way out of town.  I ended up with this.  Expensive lunch.

I drank enough beer and whiskey and gin in those two weeks to float a small battleship.  Then my Army buddy came down from Minnesota for the weekend.  Then my son and I went for lunch at Boyd's in Fairbank.  A true dive bar.  The best.  I had Pepsi.  My boy looked at me and asked if I was alright.  I said yeah, no more alcohol for a bit.  What did he do?  Called my Army buddy in Minnesota and told him that I was worn out.

Anyway...

The fencing around our Capitol remains.  Washington DC is still an occupied zone.  Occupied at the request of our elected representatives.  To protect themselves from us.  Or something. 

Every week there are articles claiming that the Capitol Police, or some other agency, has received intelligence indicating that some Conservative group plans to attack members of government or government property or... .  

Of course it isn't happening, no attacks are taking place.  But the government is keeping their soft brained followers in a state of anguish, making them believe that an attack is imminent.  And the attacks won't come.  But the news will continue to carry the stories about the credible threats to our elected officials made by the radicalized military arm of the Conservative Party.  Or something. 

But it isn't.  It's optics.  It's fear mongering.  It is propaganda.  Herr Goebbels would be impressed.

And the soft brained followers of Liberalism will continue to believe.

I had a conversation with a friend this morning about Seuss, Potato Head, the Coca-Cola polar bear, etc.  He is a true believer.  He said "cancel culture" does not exist. I asked him where #metoo went?  Still there, he said.  I asked if he was sure.  He said yes.  I told him I had not heard one peep out of #metoo since they sold their souls to the Devil to make sure that Creepy Uncle Joe, a fella who is antithetical to everything they stand for, was the Democrat nominee...  He looked at me like... Seriously?  I said yeah, you fuckers are a bunch of hypocrites.  I told him that there wasn't a person among them who wouldn't walk over their dying mother to fuck their syphilitic sister. 

But anyway...  They live in a world where ethics and morality are situational.  Where truth is fluid, depending on the needs of the day.  Where the ends justify the means and where having a conscience is frowned upon... 

But I do think that a lot of folks from all sides, who are not Progressives, are starting to question all of the "cancellations"...  :)

And Biden is coming after your guns.  I don't think I need to post any links to prove that.  

I hope that you are all writing those letters and making those phone calls to your elected officials letting them know that you are opposed to any and all gun control.  As screwed up as the NRA has been at times, they seem to have a couple of decent communication campaigns going right now.   You can easily get involved using their pre-written letters to your representatives.  All you have to do is fill in a little info, and click.  Same with GOA.  

Support your local advocacy groups.  1000 voices carry more weight than one.  Here in Iowa we have the Iowa Firearms Coalition.  Great bunch of folks.  Hard workers.  Looks like Iowa may get a Constitutional Amendment to our State Constitution protecting our gun rights.  We are one of 6 states that do not have an amendment protecting our gun rights.  Also looks like we may get Constitutional carry this year.  Thanks in large part to IFC and a few very active members.  Because, honestly, gun owners are the worst people to get to advocate for themselves, to write those letters and make those calls.  We tend to sit back and say that they can't come for our guns, and if they do, by God, "it ain't happening!"  Molon Labe, mother fucker!...  You know the drill.  

Truth is, when someone from some agency shows up at your door with guns to take your guns, 99.99999999% will comply.  Without a whimper.  Because the alternative is to die in a hail of bullets from folks with "the law on their side".   For nothing.  Who knows what the newspapers will say about it?  Make up something outlandish and go with that...  LOL.

Anyway.  

I think about a lot of things.  There are a lot of things that I want to say.  There are a lot of things that need to be said.  Personally, I'm exhausted.  I want to take a nap.  :)
