It seems that every shooting in America today is getting detailed front page coverage in every media outlet possible. Well, every shooting except those occurring in Chicago, D.C. and New York. You hardly hear about those ones. Chicago had 30 shootings and 5 deaths last weekend and the only one you're hearing about is the young lady who performed with her marching band at obama's inauguration. Hadiya Pendleton. 15 years old. Shot in the back in... Chicago.
Toughest gun laws in the nation. 40 dead so far this year. Murder capital of America. What the MSM fails to tell you is that Chicago has an out of control gang problem. That almost all of the gun violence in Chicago involves gangs. That almost all of the people in Chicago who have guns are members of gangs. Gangsters are criminals. They don't purchase their guns at gun stores. They don't do background checks or fill out 4473s when "purchasing" their guns. Gun control laws have absolutely no effect on them.

Editorial Re: ESOS...
From Forbes Magazine.
The media is missing the real story behind the “postponement” of the largest outdoor show in America. This is a story of ignorance, bias and a gross misunderstanding of America and Americans.
This unfortunate fight began when Reed Exhibitions, a British events organizing company, announced that firearms and products associated with modern sporting rifles (guns the media has given the dubious label “assault rifles”) wouldn’t be allowed at the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show. The show was scheduled to begin on February 2 in Harrisburg, Penn.
Reed Exhibitions prohibition also extended to images of modern sporting rifles. They wanted to whitewash a firearm category with Orwellian zeal from the show because they deem these semi-automatic rifles to be too militaristic for civilian use. They mandated this ban at America’s largest outdoor show, a show that regularly attracts 200,000 outdoor enthusiasts and pumps an estimated $44 million into the region’s economy.
Outdoor product manufacturers, outfitters from across the country and world, conservation organizations and more come to Harrisburg each year for it. Many find it so overwhelming they complain about it. It’s nine-days long and is a very busy show that can be grueling for an exhibitor.
For perspective, consider that Pennsylvania has about one million active deer hunters. Many more are in surrounding states. Many other gun owners, fishermen and more come to see new firearms, book with outfitters or just to see the show. The people who come pay an entry fee before entering the miles of aisles to look at new gear, buy products and to attend outdoor seminars on duck calling, elk hunting and fly tying. They are a dedicated consumer base in ball caps, camo jackets, and with pictures of last year’s bucks in their wallets.
Years ago when I first started editing for Outdoor Life magazine my boss urged me to go. He said, “People drive for hundreds of miles to go to the Harrisburg show. Go and you’ll see the America we put out a magazine for each month. You’ll see the America the media here in New York City and more doesn’t understand.”

AR15 suitable for home defense...
Department of Homeland Security: Sport rifle (AR-15) “suitable for personal defense”
Well smack me up-side the head. First, a hat tip to Breitbart’s Awr Hawkins who pointed us to a posted General Services Administration (GSA) business opportunity solicitation posted and updated last summer. Basically, the site posts a request for proposal (RFP) for personal defense weapons for the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) division of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
[Welcome to all the new vistors (20,000 plus of you in the past 24 hours or so). I hope you'll take the opportunity to check out other posts we have on the subject of gun control and other topics. Check out the radio show too - weekdays from 9 a.m. to noon ET.]
This RFP is not for the traditional armed forces. This solicitation is specific to law enforcement who almost exclusively work within and along the borders of the United States. Certainly the threats ICE officers may be subject to are the same exact threats law-abiding residents could be subject to.
Section C of solicitation number HSCEMS-12-R-00011 is pretty specific. Here is a direct link to the Section C PDF (246KB). My emphasis in bold. Notice the term assault weapon or assault rifle is not used anywhere in the document.
The scope of this contract is to provide a total of up to 7,000 5.56x45mm North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) personal defense weapons (PDW) throughout the life of this contract to numerous Department of Homeland Security components. …In paragraph 3.1 under requirements and testing standards we read…
DHS and its components have a requirement for a 5.56x45mm NATO, select-fire firearm suitable for personal defense use in close quarters and/or when maximum concealment is required.Isn’t that inconvenient for the gun control politicians? In requirement paragraph 3.9.10, they find a need for a 30-round magazine.
The action shall be capable of accepting all standard NATO STANAG 20 and 30 round M16 magazines (NSN 1005-00-921-5004) and Magpul 30 round PMAG (NSN 1005-01-576-5159). The magazine well shall be designed to allow easy insertion of a magazine.In paragraph 3.21.2, they again specify the requirement for a 30-round magazine.
The magazine shall have a capacity to hold thirty (30) 5.56x45mm NATO rounds.If you did not catch the interesting part in one of the quoted sentences above, let me point it out to you. The personal defense weapon should be select-fire capable.
DHS and its components have a requirement for a 5.56x45mm NATO, select-fire firearm suitable for personal defense use in close quarters…From the Fire Control Section, paragraph 3.10.1.
The action shall be select-fire (capable of semi-automatic and automatic fire).
The fire control selector shall have three positions; safe, semi-automatic, and automatic. The selector shall have positions which are clearly labeled for the mode of fire.

Wounded Knee...

A Lesson to be Learned on the Anniversary of

December 29, 2012 marks the 122nd Anniversary of the murder of 297 Sioux Indians at Wounded Knee Creek on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota.
These 297 people, in their winter camp, were murdered by federal agents and members of the 7th Cavalry who had come to confiscate their firearms “ for their own safety and protection ”.
The slaughter began AFTER the majority of the Sioux had
peacefully turned in their firearms . When the final round had been fired,
of the 297 dead or dying, two thirds (200) were women and children.
Around 40 members of the 7th Cavalry were killed, over half cut down by friendly fire from the Hotchkiss guns of their overzealous comrades-in-arms . Twenty members of the 7th Cavalry were deemed “National Heroes” and awarded the Medal of Honor for their acts of cowardice.

We do not hear of Wounded Knee today. It is not mentioned in
our history classes or books. What little does exist about Wounded Knee is
normally the sanitized “Official Government Explanation” or the historically
and factually inaccurate depictions of the events leading up to the
massacre on the movie screen.
Wounded Knee was among the first federally backed gun
confiscation attempts in United States history. It ended in the
senseless murder of 297 people.
Before you jump on the emotionally charged bandwagon for
gun-control, take a moment to reflect on the real purpose of the
Second Amendment ---- The right of the people to take up arms in defense
of themselves, their families, and property in the face of invading armies
or an oppressive government. The argument that the Second Amendment only
applies to hunting and target shooting is asinine. When the United States
Constitution was drafted “hunting” was an everyday chore carried out by men and
women to put meat on the table each night, and “target shooting” was an
unheard of concept, musket balls were a precious commodity in the wilds of
early America, and were certainly not wasted “target shooting”. The Second
Amendment was written by people who fled oppressive and tyrannical regimes
in Europe, and refers to the right of American citizens to be armed for defense
purposes should such tyranny rise in the United States.
As time goes on the average citizen in the United States continues to lose personal freedom or “liberty”. Far too many times unjust bills are passed and signed into law under the guise of “ for your safety ” or “ for protection ”. The Patriot Act signed into law by G.W. Bush, then expanded and continued by Barack Obama is just one of many examples of American citizens being stripped of their rights and privacy for “safety”. Now, the Right to Keep and Bear Arms is on the table, and will, most likely be taken away for “ our safety ”.
Before any American citizen blindly accepts whatever new
firearms legislation that is about to be doled out, they should stop
and think about something for just one minute --- evil does exist in our
world. It always has and always will. Throughout history evil people have
committed evil acts. In the Bible one of the first stories is that of Cain
killing Abel. We can not legislate “evil” into extinction. Good people
will abide by the law, defective people will always find a way around it.
Another thought, evil exists all around us, but
looking back at the historical record of the past 200 years across the globe,
where is evil” and “malevolence” most often found? In the hands of those
with the power ---- governments. The greatest human tragedies on record
and the largest loss of innocent human life can be attributed to governments.
Who do governments target? “Scapegoats” and “enemies” within their own
borders…but only after they have been disarmed to the point where they are no
longer a threat. Ask any Native American, and they will tell you it was
inferior technology and lack of arms that contributed to their demise. Ask any
Armenian why it was so easy for the Turks to exterminate millions of them,
and they will answer “We were disarmed before it happened”. Ask any Jew what
Hitler’s first step prior to the mass murders of the Holocaust was --
confiscation of firearms from the people. Wounded Knee is the prime example of why the Second Amendment exists, and why we shouldn’t be in such a hurry to surrender our Right to Bear Arms. Without the Second Amendment we have no right to defend ourselves and our families.

Confrontation...
Via David.
by Kit on January 20, 2013
I
frequently hear people talk about confrontation. How we deal with
confrontation, in fact, is generally considered one of the defining
points in someone’s personality. Does someone shy away from it? Do
they run toward it? Are they comfortable in conflicts, can they resolve
them? Sometimes people will use phrases like “non-confrontational”
or “peaceful” to describe themselves in a positive light. “I’m very
non-confrontational. I can get along with everyone.” In this brave new
world of political correctness and buzzwords that we use to dance
around issues that we disagree with, tolerance is the new integrity.
Except…there
is no integrity in tolerance for the sake of not hurting feelings.
There is no honor in being non-confrontational to the point of
cowardice.

Challenging eligibility...
From Red Flag News...
Supreme Court opens door to another challenge to Obama eligibility on February 15th...
Chief Justice John Roberts Schedules A Case Regarding Obamas Forged IDs to be Heard in Conference Before the Full Supreme Court.
The case titled Noonan, Judd, MacLeran, Taitz v Bowen provides a mountain of evidence of Barack Obama using a last name not legally his, forged Selective Service application, forged long form and short form birth certificate and a Connecticut Social Security number 042-68-4425 which was never assigned to him according to E-Verify and SSNVS. Additionally, this case provides evidence of around one and a half million invalid voter registrations in the state of California alone.
More from Huffington Post: Taitz's case argues that Obama is using false identification, a fake last name, a false Social Security number and forged birth certificates, and Selective Service applications to run for president. She originally filed the lawsuit against California Secretary of State Debra Bowen (D) in her attempt to prevent California's electoral votes from being counted and to prevent Vice President Joe Biden from counting the electoral votes earlier this month.
A federal judge in California dismissed this case last week. Taitz likened her current case to Watergate.

Probably doomed...
Harry Reid: The Assault Weapons Ban Is Probably Doomed
The Democratically-controlled U.S. Senate will not be a free-for-all of new gun regulations following the shooting at Sandy Hook, according to Majority Leader Harry Reid. Instead, Senators will focus on passing legislation that can move through the Republican-controlled House, Reid said.
That could spell doom for an assault weapons ban. Speaking on Nevada Week In Review, a news show on the PBS affiliate in Las Vegas, Reid said there’s no real chance of a new ban passing the House.
“Is it something that can pass the Senate? Maybe. Is it something that can pass the House? I doubt it,” he said in video of the program provided to TPM by Vegas PBS. “So I think there are things that we know we can do.”
The National Rifle Association has praised Reid in the past for his opposition to the assault weapons ban, as well as his support for other legislation favored by the gun lobby.
Though President Obama continues to support reinstating the ban on assault weapons, the gun control crowd has set universal background checks as their chief goal following the Newtown, Conn. massacre.
Reid called on a holistic approach to dealing with gun violence that includes a look at firearms, but he called for a slowed down debate. Gun control proponents have urged politicians to act fast in the wake of Newtown, which has opened up a political conversation about guns not seen in Washington for years.

I'm not sure how much of the "Gun Control" rhetoric coming out of Washington is serious and how much is political blow meant to appease those who want more of it. A large part of it is, no doubt, political posturing to make people believe that the politicians care. I believe that many of them have spent far too much time in D.C. and have evolved into sociopaths incapable of caring. The only things that they care about are the next election and their quest to perpetuate their comfortable lifestyle and to maintain their power.
I don't doubt they'll try to impose new rules and restrictions on the law abiding gun owners of this country. I'm just not sure how far they'll get with it.
Even Bill Clinton admitted that the '94 ban was the reason the Democrats lost so many seats in congress after it was imposed. They all know that the ban did nothing to slow violent crime. It was a feel good measure had little effect on a gullible public. I hope that that knowledge will color their debate and their votes this time around. The backlash from the American people has the potential of being severe.
Chicago now has the distinction of being the Murder Capitol of America. By the admission of law enforcement and the Chicago mayor's office, 80% of all murders committed in that city are gang related. I don't think that anyone would try to tell you that any gun control measure will inhibit the ability of gang members anywhere getting guns. If they do tell you that, you can be sure that they are either lying, or they are delusional.
How many of the murders committed with guns in this country are gang related? How many of the homicides of "children" under 17 are gang related?
I know that I'm preaching to the choir here when I say that the only people negatively affected by gun control rules and restrictions are law abiding legal gun owners.
All of the politicians involved in proposing or supporting gun control have the same data available to them as you and I do. They probably have more, actually. Common sense dictates that legal ownership of firearms in any form is not the major problem. Law abiding gun owners could possess armor, artillery, and heavy machine guns, as well as piles of ammo to go with them, and it wouldn't affect the crime rate.
The people attempting to control our access to weapons and ammunition know that it will have absolutely zero affect on gun crime, yet they insist on pushing forward with their plans. Why?
Because sometimes bad people do bad things? Unfortunately, that is human nature. It's not going to change because someone passes a restrictive gun law.
Personally, I think that it has more to do with "An unarmed populace..."
I believe that most of the rhetoric is just that, rhetoric. I don't believe that most politicians have the stomach for it. If they truly believe that any more gun control restricting the rights of law abiding citizens will be successful in lowering violent crime rates, they lack the mental capacity to be in the positions that they are in. They should probably be institutionalized.
I do not believe that more gun control has the support of the American people, regardless of what the media tells us. I believe that more restrictive gun control has the potential of inciting the next American Revolution, and I believe that the politicians know it. And they know that most of us know that their rhetoric is a hyperbolic fairy tale.
"Assault weapons" will bear the brunt of their attention, even though "assault weapons" are the least used firearm in the commission of crime in this country. Their story is a lie. It has been from the beginning.
All they need to succeed is an uneducated, gullible audience.

An article from the NYTimes via David...
After Talking It Up to Appease Their Donors, Democrats Abandoning
Assault Weapons Ban?
WASHINGTON — While President Obama pledged to crack down on access to what
he called “weapons of war” in the aftermath of last month’s schoolhouse
massacre, the White House has calculated that a ban on military-style assault
weapons will be exceedingly difficult to pass through Congress and is focusing
on other measures it deems more politically achievable.
As a task force led by Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. readies recommendations on reducing
gun violence for delivery to the president next week, White House officials say
a new ban will be an element of whatever final package is proposed. But given
the entrenched opposition from gun rights groups and their advocates on Capitol
Hill, the White House is trying to avoid making its passage the sole definition
of success and is emphasizing other new gun rules that could conceivably win
bipartisan support and reduce gun deaths.
During a day of White House meetings on the issue on
Thursday, including one with the National Rifle Association, Mr. Biden focused publicly
on universal background checks for gun purchases and the need for more federal
research on gun violence. In 15 minutes of public remarks, Mr. Biden made no
mention of curbing the production and sale of assault weapons, even though he
was a prime author of such a law that passed in 1994 and expired 10 years later.
Both he and the president say they strongly support an assault weapons ban.
But Mr. Biden noted that his former colleagues in
the Senate have long been “pretty universally opposed to any restrictions on gun
ownership or what type of weapons can be purchased.” He said they now seem more
open to limits on the purchase of high-capacity magazines.
A spokesman for Mr. Obama said later in the
afternoon that the vice president’s remarks merely reflect a desire for a broad
approach to gun violence.
“President Obama has been clear that Congress should
reinstate the assault weapons ban and that avoiding this issue just because it’s
been politically difficult in the past is not an option,” said Matt Lehrich, the
spokesman. “He’s also stressed that no single piece of legislation alone can
solve this problem, which is why he has asked Vice President Biden to explore a
wide array of proposals on topics ranging from gun laws to mental health to
school safety.”

Gun control is your index finger...
So says former Representative Allen West. He is right, of course. He claims that gun control is a political agenda, nothing more... He is right about that, also.
~~~~~~
Former Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.) said gun control comes down to the finger you pull the trigger with, calling the larger discussion on gun violence part of a "political agenda."
"This is your gun control, this finger right here -- your index finger," West said in an interview with Newsmax TV. "Nothing happens with that gun until you put that finger into the trigger well and you pull it. So my concern is that we’re not talking about the real issue, we’re talking about a political agenda."
Pravda asks "why"?...
This article shows more clarity on the part of the writer than we see from the Americans involved. And we are all involved.
~~~~~~
~~~~~~
In the Western world truth no longer has any meaning. In its place stands agenda.
Agenda is all important, because it is
the way Washington achieves hegemony over the world and the American
people. 9/11 was the "new Pearl Harbor" that the neoconservatives
declared to be necessary for their planned wars against Muslim
countries. For the neoconservatives to go forward with their agenda, it
was necessary for Americans to be connected to the agenda.
President George W. Bush's first
Treasury Secretary, Paul O'Neil, said that prior to 9/11 the first
cabinet meeting was about the need to invade Iraq.
9/11 was initially blamed on
Afghanistan, and the blame was later shifted to Iraq. Washington's
mobilization against Afghanistan was in place prior to 9/11. The George
W. Bush regime's invasion of Afghanistan (Operation Enduring Freedom)
occurred on October 7, 2001, less than a month after 9/11. Every
military person knows that it is not possible to have mobilization for
invading a country half way around the world ready in three weeks.
The Orwellian "PATRIOT Act" is another
example of planning prior to the event. This vast police state measure
could not possibly have been written in the short time between 9/11 and
its introduction in Congress. The bill was already written, sitting on
the shelf waiting its opportunity. Why? Who wrote it? Why has there been
no media investigation of the advanced preparation of this police state
legislation?
Biden quote...
"There is nothing that has pricked the consciousness of the American people
(and) there is nothing that has gone to the heart of the matter more than the
image people have of little 6-year-old kids riddled - not shot, but riddled,
riddled - with bullet holes in their classroom," Biden said.
If you think these people care about the kids from Newtown for anything more than what they can continue to do to promote their evil cause, you're fooling yourself.
Our government is being run by evil men and women. Of that I am sure.
Not sure what that says about the people who elect and
reelect these evil men and women.
Biden's gun control task force...
The NRA statement following today's meetings with Biden, et al.
~~~~~~
"The National Rifle Association of America is made up of over 4 million moms and dads, daughters and sons, who are involved in the national conversation about how to prevent a tragedy like Newtown from ever happening again. We attended today's White House meeting to discuss how to keep our children safe and were prepared to have a meaningful conversation about school safety, mental health issues, the marketing of violence to our kids and the collapse of federal prosecutions of violent criminals.
We were disappointed with how little this meeting had to do with keeping our children safe and how much it had to do with an agenda to attack the Second Amendment. While claiming that no policy proposals would be “prejudged,” this Task Force spent most of its time on proposed restrictions on lawful firearms owners - honest, taxpaying, hardworking Americans. It is unfortunate that this Administration continues to insist on pushing failed solutions to our nation's most pressing problems. We will not allow law-abiding gun owners to be blamed for the acts of criminals and madmen. Instead, we will now take our commitment and meaningful contributions to members of congress of both parties who are interested in having an honest conversation about what works - and what does not."
~~~~~~
Who is surprised that the White House is making this poltical? Sounds like the NRA may have it right this time.
As I have said before... I believe that all gun control measures are unconstitutional. Period.
I am willing to qualify that, just a little. I don't want people who are mentally incapable of safely owning a gun to have one. I don't want violent felons to have guns after they have been released from prison. That's as far as I'm willing to go with gun control. That, of course, is just me. How do you feel about it?
Stay safe.
Panic...
According to the gun review site, "Haus of Guns," backorders for the Magpul
AR-15 30-round magazine ("PMAG") have surpassed one million.
In a Facebook post dated today, January 9, Haus of Guns writes the following:
"Had breakfast with a buddy who has reasonably close ties to the Magpul family. Word is the great PMAG panic backorder of 2012/13 has topped 1 million at Magpul HQ."
Magpul is a designer and manufacturer of firearms accessories. The PMAG is one of their most popular products. It is a 30-round magazine designed for the AR-15 semi-automatic rifle.
Sales of firearms, ammunition and firearms accessories have surged in recent weeks over fears that the Obama administration will soon implement stricter gun laws.
Dianne Fenstien (D-Calif.) plans on introducing legislation that would ban military-style weapons and high-capacity magazines.
