No, no. Social Security and VA are BENEFITS, not entitlements. I am a disabled veteran and I receive benefits, due to my disabilities that were incurred while on active duty. It is NOT something that I am entitled to.
Use to be a badge of shame when a man couldn't support his family on his own. He was not proud to receive welfare nor want to be seen in an unemployment line. He was somewhat ashamed of himself if his wife had to go to work to help support the family (not just because she wanted to.) A man had a sense of self-worth and value. His one mistake was that he wanted his children to have an easier life than he did without suffering. And those children turned on him and made him suffer. We need to get back to wanting self-respect and getting what we earn and value the effort that went behind getting what we earned. Unfortunately, those days are gone. I miss them.
I'd happily trade the stipend to have full use of both legs again.

ReplyDeleteGive it some time Blue. It is tough, I am sure. Remember that He is there for you. Peace be upon you.
