The most glaring example of the cognitive dissonance on the left is the
concept that human beings are inherently good, yet at the same time cannot be
trusted with any kind of weapon, unless the magic fairy dust of government
authority gets sprinkled upon them.

I remember when I issued my Soldiers their gas masks and bayonets in Germany. They were locked up in the arms room and you had to go down into the keller and sign them out. That wouldn't work if we were getting gassed from a Scud from East Germany (1984). My Bn XO went nuts. I told him they were Soldiers and I expected them to be adults. There were no incidents. If our gov't would treat people as adults - to include personal responsibility and accountability - instead as "stupid voters", we'd have a gov't we could respect.
I truly believe that the majority of the politicians see American citizens as too stupid to make decisions for themselves.
