Yep. AND, virtually every home had guns, in a closet or behind a door. We knew where they were, but didn't touch 'cause Dad said so. Also, we had a Dad...

I didn't pray in school or have the ten commandments and we didn't shoot up out schools either. The fact is school shootings are highly publicized but extremely RARE events. They cannot be prevented because they are rare. Any attempt to prevent them is a waste of resources. you will be enacting a policy onto tens of thousands of schools that were never going to have such an event at them in the first place. Ever.

On the other hand, inner city schools have crimes committed at them every day. Robberies, assaults, fights, rapes and even murders. It might make a lot of sense to throw some security resources in that direction.

My mother, who never went to church for the last 75 of her 90 years of life, said that most of our troubles in society started when God got kicked out of the classroom.

She distrusted lawyers, politicians, and government in general, but she believed in marriage for the purpose of producing and raising children; she believed in a small federal government with all issues not directly addressed in the Constitution as matters for the individual states to decide; and she believed that a Christian community was preferable to one based on science or self or socialism.

I am far better educated than she was, but I still agree with her on all those points.

Genericviews... I agree with you 100%. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

bocopro... I think your mother was correct in so many ways.

What has changed in the world we live in today? I think it is (nearly) as simple as we have lost our moral compass.
