I still can't figure out why anyone would want to broadcast their sexual orientation to the entire world, homosexual or otherwise. People place "labels" on themselves then complain that they are being labeled. Not just homosexuals... So many people.

Gun control... It just won't die...

WASHINGTON — Talks to revive gun control legislation are quietly under way on Capitol Hill as a bipartisan group of senators seeks a way to bridge the differences that led to last week’s collapse of the most serious effort to overhaul the country’s gun laws in 20 years.
Drawing on the lessons from battles in the 1980s and ’90s over the Brady Bill, which failed in Congress several times before ultimately passing, gun control supporters believe they can prevail by working on a two-pronged strategy. First, they are identifying senators who might be willing to change their votes and support a background check system with fewer loopholes.
Second, they are looking to build a national campaign that would better harness overwhelming public support for universal background checks — which many national polls put at near 90 percent approval — to pressure lawmakers.

I was reading over at Curtis' Place this morning and had a moment of clarity. I posted a comment on his blog, which in turn became this blog post...

And none of the hundreds (perhaps thousands?) of militarized "cops" who were involved in this "operation" cared that they were violating the unalienable constitutional (and human) rights of the citizens.
These "cops" are brainwashed to the point that they are useful for nothing else. This was "the moment that they've been waiting all of their lives for". The opportunity to force others to do their bidding via a "show of force". This "show of force" was extremely important to each of them. This "show of force" was infinitely important to the Powers That Be.
The fact that these cops were violating the God given rights of their fellow citizens meant absolutely nothing to them. That thought never even entered their minds. Empathy for their fellow citizens has been erased from their psyche. They are sociopaths. Do the militarized forces that exist today draw sociopaths to their ranks, or do they create sociopaths? Does it matter? Can any individual become a member of one of these forces today without being or becoming a sociopath?
And the people... The people who allowed themselves to be ripped from their homes and herded down the street like cattle... Like the German Jews to the concentration camps, or the Russians to the Gulag, or the Cambodians to the Killing Fields. Or the American Indian at the hand of the white man.
This is no different. It has happened thousands of times throughout history. This was simply a trial run. A test.
It has to start somewhere.
Now the Powers That Be know how far they can go. The PTB now know how much evil the people will tolerate. The PTB know that they are now free to go "all the way" without resistance. They know that their Jack Booted Thugs, their minions, will be able to return safely to their families at the end of their shift and that the citizens will do whatever they are told to do. Its important that the JBT are able to return home at the end of their shift. Knowing that they will be safe at the end of the day is what keeps them in the fold.
We have turned that final corner as a nation. We have taken the final step. You can deny it as much as you want to. You can try to rationalize it. You can even get comfortable in your own mind believing that its an aberration, that things will settle down and get back to "normal".
But, in the deep dark recesses of your mind, if you are honest with yourself, you know that this is the new normal. Its the way it is. It ain't a gonna change anytime soon.
The one thing that we do know for sure is that actions such as these, the Nazis, the Soviets, the Khmer Rouge, all of them... they ultimately fail.

Miranda Rights Won't Be Read For Boston Bombing Suspect: Justice Official
WASHINGTON -- A Justice Department official says the Boston Marathon bombing suspect will not be read his Miranda rights because the government is invoking a public safety exception.
That official and a second person briefed on the investigation says 19-year-old Dzhokhar Tsarnaev will be questioned by a special interrogation team for high-value suspects. The officials spoke on the condition of anonymity because they weren't authorized to disclose the information publicly.
The public safety exception permits law enforcement officials to engage in a limited and focused unwarned interrogation of a suspect and allows the government to introduce the statement as evidence in court. The public safety exception is triggered when police officers have an objectively reasonable need to protect the police or the public from immediate danger.

This is why the foundation of old America was based on a Constitution that supported rights for freedom which included the right to a trial and the presumption of innocence until PROVEN GUILTY!
The presumption of innocence is a foundational cornerstone of a free society.
But over the past few days, we have all become witnesses to the new courtroom. A tribunal where justice is exercised with the bullets of SWAT teams and Homeland Security agents.
In the old days, a description of a suspect qualified their guilt or innocence with the word, "alleged!" But now with the instantaneous dynamic of the media, people are being indoctrinated to desire a quick remedy which includes blood and a dead body.
Lest we forget, we just saw this happen in California with the ex-officer, Christopher Dorner, who was accused of having a manifesto....He was executed!

Something to think about. I'm pretty sure that Nathan's thoughts are similar to what many of you already think.
The actions of the law enforcement community after the Boston bombing is a perfect example of the militarization of our police forces today. Don't think it's just in the big cities and that it "can't happen here" in your small corner of Amerika. It is everywhere. No one even had to go out and recruit these people. They all volunteered once they saw a SWAT Team on TV all those years ago.
I have a serious problem with the "end justifies the means" mentality that these LEOs exhibited throughout this entire operation.
I also think that there is more to the story.
I will admit that I am surprised that Suspect #2 was taken alive.
Ahhhh well. No speculation today from my little corner of the world. :)

The Boston Marathon bombing suspects have been identified as brothers originally from Chechnya. Both men have been identified as Muslim. Suspect 1, deceased, was identified as 26 year old Tamerlan Tsarnaev. Suspect 2, still at large, is his 19 year old brother Dzhokar Tsarnaev. The city is on lockdown with all residents being urged to stay in their homes. No transportation is running.

One police officer is dead after previous shootout. Another is in critical condition. Suspect 1 that died is said to have had multiple gunshot wounds and shrapnel.

I've been gone for a few days so I'm a bit out of touch.
Let me get this straight...
Suspect number 1 is dead. Suspect number 2 is at large but he has changed clothes since Monday and is no longer wearing the white ballcap backward? Someone used the gun belonging to the dead cop in the shootout.
The original Suspect number 1, a member of the House of Saud and with ties to al Qaeda, was released and sent back to the Middle East after a conversation between a "high ranking government official" and the Saudi Ambassador? Is that correct? Pretty much correct?
And Biden tells the Grabbers that obama has some "Executive Solutions" up his sleeve to implement gun control after it failed in the Senate?
How much ya wanna bet that when (if?) they identify suspects #1 & 2 we'll find out that they were disenchanted Liberal pukes with mental disorders and ties to al Qaeda? Or something.
Nevermind... I'm not going to speculate. I'll just wait for the MSM torepeat report the information that the cops give them.
obama is pissed that gun control measures in the Senate failed miserably. It's the fault of the NRA. They have too much power. (Remember that the NRA is an organization created to represent the People, not unlike the UAW or the Teacher's Union or the Government Employees Union or any other Union that lobbies in Washington D.C.) According to obama, the Senate failed the people.
Gabby Giffords is pissed. Expanded background checks work so well. Ask the folks in New York State who have had their firearms confiscated. Oh wait! That's due to a public safety clause in the obamacare bill. Remember, they said obamacare couldn't be used to confiscate your guns.
