The sporadic musings of a middle aged man who isn't exactly happy with the direction America is taking today....
"The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not." ~~Thomas Jefferson
"Who will protect us from those who protect us?"
Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. ~ Thomas Jefferson
"None are so hopelessly enslaved as those who falsely believe they are free." ~~Goethe

Just think....
Just think, over the coming weekend approximately 900,000 people in the United States of Amerika will voluntarily subject themselves to enhanced pat-down procedures sponsored by the new collaboration between the NFL and DHS in order to attend professional football games across this country.
The new slogan being used by our government to strike fear into the hearts of everyday Amerikans is "If you see something, say something". This is a well thought out form of government sponsored terrorism designed to force conformity, compliance, and fear. It's quite subtle but it does send the message that there must be something "out there" that could potentially harm you and it also implies that if you give the government the desired information they will be able to help keep you safe.
How fucking stupid are we?
I think it's time to resurrect that old (failed) government slogan from the 1980's war on drugs....
"Just Say No"
Stay safe.

Hear! Hear! I was just thinking this morning that I have two free R/T tickets to the west coast, but don't want to go through all that crap.
For the first time I'm happy I have claustrophobia. I'm not even tempted to fly. That's good because the first time some moron with a GED and an erection grabs Lu inappropriately the resulting 'incident' be the lead story on the Nightly News.
I see my freedoms disappearing at a record pace. I've been saying something on my blog, but few people care.
I grew up on airplanes, at the tail end of the Golden Age of Flight. But, until we are no longer treated like cattle and criminals, I refuse to fly. There's nowhere I need to be that fast.
Brock.... I haven't flown commercial since they started all of these extra "security" procedures like backscatter x-ray and enhanced patdowns. I hope I'm not asked to fly commercial for work.
Six.... I know exactly what you mean. I would not take kindly to my wife or grandaughter being fondled by TSA perverts.
Wraith.... I used to enjoy flying commercial and being pampered. Those days are long gone. Sucks.
In 1969, I flew from the states to Saigon on Pan American with my loaded .45 caliber derringer in my right hip pocket. How things have changed.
