Logic...

An article from Kontradictions

Why Not Renew the “Assault Weapons” Ban? Well, I’ll Tell You…

Between Two Worlds
It’s not easy being a leftist who loves guns. It’s like being a Republican who listens to NPR or supports single payer health care. But being a leftist, I get exposed to all the liberal publications and media that invariably call for gun control every time someone does something stupid with one. Being a gun enthusiast, I also get exposed to the political Right’s oversimplification of those liberals as somehow lacking moral fiber or true appreciation of freedom. Rather than agreeing with both, I tend to end up arguing with both. It’s exhausting to always feel like I’m apologizing for the other “side”.
This article takes a point of view, but aims to do so in a way that members of both sides of the political spectrum can understand. I’ll try to give some idea as to why we on the political left roll our eyes at the rhetoric of the NRA, and how we in the “gun culture” can possibly defend something called “assault weapons”.

Read it all here.  It's worth it :)

A point of view...

I received the following "information/story/artticle" in an email this morning from "fremanfighter".  I don't know who fremanfighter is, but I'm not sure that it matters.  His or her return email "does not exist".  I attempted to respond to the sender to find out more about him or her and received a "google mail" response stating that the address did not exist.  Not sure that matters either.  The sender's email appears to come from "dunes.com".  Never heard of it before.  It appears to be a vacation home rental company in Florida.

Maybe it was just the government trying to put some sort of tracking software on my 'puter?  :)

This email is presented here simply as food for thought.  Some of the spelling indicates that the author may be British, ie: paedophile.  No big deal.

Anyway, like I said, food for thought.

There is certainly some controversy surrounding the "official" story (stories?) surrounding the Sandy Hook killings.

One thing is for certain, though...  There is going to be an attempt to grab or regulate guns in this country.  I don't think that anyone who is paying attention can deny that.  The groundwork to create an emotional frenzy and gain support from the mindless masses for any and all future gun control legislation is being put in place right now.

As always, your comments are welcome.

~~~~~~
Newtown, Connecticut is the second Dunblane Primary-School Massacre.
The primary-school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, approximately 45 miles from the Colt Arms Factory, is just another one in the long line of government psyops designed to persuade the public to allow the government to take away their guns, and their means to defend themselves against the government and the banksters that the politicians really serve.
The small children murders are designed to create hysterical emotions in women to get them to demand that guns are banned. If that doesn’t work they will continue with their evil agenda with worse and worse atrocities on younger children, until they get their way and disarm the people, so that they cannot fight back against government tyranny.
Newtown is the U.S.A.’s Dunblane, which was orchestrated in Scotland in 1996 by the British establishment, to whip up hysteria in order to ban all handguns from the U.K. It was a follow-up to the Hungerford Massacre in England in 1987, which was carried out by mind-controlled Michael Ryan, who then shot himself so he could not be questioned, and it was used to ban semi-automatic rifles and shotguns.
It’s always the same people behind it – the gun-grabbers who want the people to be defenseless against the gun-grabbers’ employers – the banksters who own all of the politicians. They get their politicians to pass legislation for them, in order to remove the people’s freedoms and means of defending themselves, and enslave them in a draconian police-state, under a mountain of debt, and then exterminate the useless-eaters.
The Dunblane  massacre was supposedly carried out by Thomas Hamilton, who was a paedophile and procurer of children, for a high level paedophile ring involving senior members of the Tony Blair Labour-Party shadow-cabinet and others. The massacre served two purposes, it achieved their desired handgun-ban and killed the abused children, so they could not be witnesses against the elite-paedophiles. They then had the findings of the inquiry sealed for 100 years, which is proof of the above.
Like Newtown there were two shooters, Hamilton and a hit-man who shot Hamilton and made it look like Hamilton committed suicide after shooting 16 children, so that he couldn’t be questioned. Hamilton was found in the school gymnasium slumped against a wall and still gurgling, when an off-duty policeman PC Grant McCutcheon entered the gym and saw two semi-automatic pistols, one on either side of Hamilton’s body.
The autopsy revealed that Hamilton was killed with a .38 revolver. These people always slip-up with their crimes. There was no .38 revolver for him to have shot himself with. Thus, there was a second shooter who killed Hamilton.
Similarly, the first reports from Newtown were of two shooters, just like mind-controlled James Holmes in the Denver Batman Cinema massacre, the story then quickly changes to just one.
Columbine was similar, in that a team of shooters in black outfits were seen there and the two accused were on mind-altering prescription-drugs.
Wake up and see the pattern and their modus operandi and don’t fall for it. Never let them take your guns, except from your cold dead hands.
All of these are staged events to whip-up hysterical public support for banning the people from having guns. It works the same in every country – Hungerford in England, Dunblane in Scotland, Port Arthur in Australia and the list in America is endless, because of the Second Amendment and the people having a pro-gun culture. That makes it much more difficult to break the Americans’ love of guns and the Second Amendment, which was put in place to protect the people from the government.
Gun bans work well for tyrants. They worked well for Hitler, Stalin and Chairman Mao, to name just three.
If you want to stop these massacres, wake-up and get rid of the banksters, their puppet-politicians and all gun-grabbers; arm teachers and ban gun-free zones.
From one who can see the pattern and hopes to enable you to see it too.
Verbatim Post
Secession Allegiance and Religion
Most people, or shall I say, most conservatives see something is terribly wrong
with the country today, but they blame everything but the right things. One of
the top comments I get from people is that we are not patriotic enough, or that people
such as myself are unpatriotic. People do not know what true patriotism is any
more, and I doubt if many of you reading this do either. So to clear up some
confusion, I am going to give you the order of where you should place your allegiance
and patriotism.
We hear people complain about the government and how it has lost touch with
the people. I am told, VOTE, be patriotic, do your duty. I ask; What is my duty;
to vote?  Honestly, do you ever see this changing anything? Has anything in the
federal government changed for the better in your lifetime? You dad's lifetime?
His dad's lifetime? The question is; What are you gonna do about it?
The following bears worth repeating. People are so dumbed down they have little
or no idea how or where they are to place their allegiance and patriotism. They
don't have a clue as to the order, with most everyone thinking or acting as if the
federal government is all there is to follow and place their allegiance in. They
think they can take a tyrannical government and correct it simply by voting, which
is what they equate to patriotism. Or they think joining the military, fighting and
dying is being patriotic. Nothing could be further from the truth as I tried to explain
to others at a blog who accused me of being unpatriotic and un-American because
I would not fight to restore DC and their form of pseudo "conservative" government.
I was told to leave the united states if it was not worth fighting for. Here is what
I posted back. Keep in mind that people in general do not know their order
allegiance, so you have to remind them... Your allegiance is NOT to the federal
government, that is a lie you've been indoctrinated into accepting in order that the
federal government may have a free reign to go to war anywhere it likes and to
pass whatever laws unto you that it deems necessary for it's safety, NOT yours!
My response:
My state of North Carolina is worth fighting for. That is my home and my country!
Your state is worth fighting for, as that is your home and country! Patriotism originally
comes from the Greek meaning inheritor of my father’s land. (Or very similarly stated.)
Specifically; What and where is your father’s land? How did he get it and how did he
pass it to you? Your father’s land originally was the state, which is also the country he
lived in. He did not originally live in Washington DC, but in the state he called home.
This was completely true and accepted until Lincoln’s War changed this thinking with
reconstruction. (The whole nation was reconstructed, not just the South.) The union and
federal government is NOT worth fighting for. The united states is NOT my home nor
my country! It is merely a representative of our many countries, our many states.
The order in which one *supposed* is to show honor and respect is as follows.
1-God
2-Family
3-Friends and neighbors
4-Neighborhood or locality or community
5-Area region
6-State (State and country is dependent upon structure.)
7-Country
8-Nation
9-Government (Government would apply in place of No. 8 if a nation did not exist.)
Notice I did NOT add religious denominations, but religion is to be understood to be
the Christian religion including Catholicism.--NOT Mormonism or Judaism or such..
Neither is a part of Christianity.
Note: the above is a general order according to the structure of a geographic location
that would end up being a nation. A nation is simply a geographical area that
includes a people with like minds, philosophies, religion, culture and heritage.
There can be deviations but the overall effect is that the vast majority of people hold
these same or similar ideals. Note the similarity as stated in the Declaration of
Independence from Great Britain, “We hold these truths to be self-evident…..”  As a nation all people are *supposed* to accept this basis as their basis of national unity. Sadly this does not exist today.
Note: The order is correct but there can be additions when properly placed, or there can
be certain omissions when need be, but the order remains the same in accordance to
importance. Good government is ruled from the bottom up, not from the top down, and
your allegiance should be in like order.
Note: The government is nothing more than the will of a unified people, doing their
bidding on a larger scale, before the countries and nations of the world. This is also why
the Federal Government *supposed* to be an agent of the states, of which the states are
representative countries. This is also why the STATES have the Inalienable Right to secede.
Note: A country by itself is not necessarily a nation, but it can be an independent country
with all the rules, laws and government of a nation when independent of national status.
A nation is merely several states with a central government representing them.
I owe NO allegiance to any nation or government that does not fully recognize my sovereignty and right to self-determination. There is no way humanly possible, short of conflict that I can make a national government recognize my Inalienable Rights if they choose to ignore them. This is what the Federal Government in Washington DC has chosen to do. I owe them and such people as those that place their allegiance in the Federal Government NOTHING! I owe you nothing because you are part of the problem, if you are in standing with a degenerate nation and federal government in DC! The federal government is far past the point of ever correcting it's wrongs, it's usurpation of our Inalienable Rights, our states and countries. I ask you; Who has benefited from this?
FBI Uniform Crime Report data...
From David P.
"We have to educate ourselves, in order to debate effectively."
Follow this link to FBI murder data for the past 5 years.
It's like I have said before...  the facts do not even remotely match the purely emotional Liberal hyperbole being spewed regarding "assault weapons".
Make sure to point out when talking to your Liberal friends and acquaintances that all murders involving "Evil Black Rifles" are but a fraction of the total number of murders committed with "rifles" and that rifles are the firearms least used in homicides in this country.
I know that Liberals do not like facts that disagree with, or disprove, their emotionally grounded beliefs.  There is some excellent data here that even a moron could understand well enough to come to the logical conclusion that "assault weapons" are not causing problems to the degree that they are being led to believe.
When you're having that conversation with those Liberal friends and acquaintances, it might be a good time to point out that they are being lied to by those whom they revere, the media and their duly elected politicians.  No one likes being lied to.
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men."
Fire Sights...
I had mentioned earlier that I had plans to upgrade the sights on my new GP100.  The factory sights include a rear sight that is adjustable for both windage and elevation and a solid black front sight.  There is no contrast between front and rear sights when acquiring a sight picture and that problem is compounded when trying to acquire a black target.
I ordered a set of Williams Fire Sights on Monday and received them today.  They are simple fiber optic sights, and from what I can tell, much more user friendly than the original factory sights that came installed on the gun.  The front sight fiber optic is a single red dot and the rear sight consists of 2 green dots.  Pretty standard set up.
They were very simple to install.  Google "change front sight GP100" to see how it's done.  Pretty slick.  The front sight has a pin above the muzzle that you depress with a small punch or other suitable tool.  Depressing this pin allows you to remove the front sight with your fingers.  Installation is simply the reverse of removal.
Changing the rear sight required the removal of a small pivot pin that goes through the frame of the revolver and through the rear sight base, and the elevation screw from the top of the sight base.  There are 2 small springs beneath the rear sight base that assist in the elevation adjustment that are retained with the new sight installation.
Start to finish it took me about 15 minutes.
These are not night sights but they are very bright if there is even a minimal light source.
I think they are much easier to see than the original sights and, at least in the basement, it is easy to get a good sight picture.  They fit well and the finish is pretty good.  They are made completely of anodized aluminum except for the fiber optic tubes.
I figured for $50 shipped, I couldn't go too far wrong.
Perhaps some of you have used these sights before?  They make them for a wide range of guns.
I will report back later on how they work at the range.
Stay safe.
A debate...
This is the transcript of a "debate" that took place between me and "Commenter 2" this afternoon regarding an internet news article on banning "assault weapons".  It was somewhere in the middle of the comments section following the article.  The writer, "commenter 2", is apparently a Liberal and claims to be a veteran of the US military.  He doesn't believe that anyone outside of Law Enforcement and the Military should be able to possess  "assault weapons".   His thought process is that of a typical Liberal, though he hasn't made any ad hominem attacks against me and I didn't notice any made by him against other commenters.  Perhaps there is such a thing as a polite Liberal?
The comments in their entirety were typical for such a post.  Some very thoughtful and factual with some others obviously based on nothing but emotion.  Some of the comments were dog-shit crazy, but that's pretty typical, too.  It was interesting...
~~~~~~

Commenter 1:

I see automobile fatalities are up 7.1% so far this year over last year. Congress should ban all assault automobiles with high capacity gas tanks, don't you agree?

Commenter 2:

We have regulations and restrictions on cars, we require seatbelts and we require the manufacturers to make cars more inherently safe. WE require every single car driver to be licensed and to be insured, We have laws that take away driving privileges for infractions and we have laws that restrict who can drive.

We have almost none of these same things for guns. Yes, we should regulate and restrict guns at least like we do for cars.

Blue:

And still, with all of these regulations, 33,000 Americans died violent deaths in automobile accidents last year.

Commenter 2:

Which is down dramatically from 45,520 in 2005. Do you have a point?

Blue:

Absolutely.

Nearly a third of those "accidents" were caused by impaired or distracted driving.  You know, drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs or drivers distracted by cell phones or other electronic media within their vehicle.  A few more were caused by other distractions such as screaming children, conversations with passengers, etc.

Of the 32,883 deaths by auto accident in 2010, 1539 of them were children under the age of 16.  (I wonder how many of those children died at the hands of a careless, distracted, or impaired parent?)  Virtually 100% of these deaths were preventable, yet there is no obvious outrage over them.

51% of those violently killed in automobile accidents in 2010 were not following the regulations when they died, because they were not wearing seatbelts (Source: NTSB).  Other contributing factors, such as alcohol and drug impairment, are also against the rules, yet many more died because they failed to follow these rules.  Most of these drivers took the required training and tests and were legally licensed to drive.  Most of them had the required insurance.  Yet they are dead.

Apparently, violent death by automobile is acceptable.  Simply a fact of life.

Gun homicides have declined in this country by a similar percentage over a similar period of time.  Further, they have declined by fully half since 1990, a far greater percentage of decline than automobile deaths.

Total homicides by rifle in the US in 2010 were 358.  Homicides by shotgun were 373.  Hands, fists, or feet were the cause of death in 745 homicides and knives were used in 1704 homicides.  Of the homicides committed by rifle, "assault weapons" were but a small fraction of the total, a number that the FBI calls "statistically insignificant".   6009 homicides were committed with handguns and 2035 homicides were committed by "unknown types" of firearms.  1772 homicides were committed by "other weapons" (Weapons that do not fit any of the categories listed above.  Weapons like the bow and arrow used by Christopher Krumm to incapacitate his father in a college classroom earlier this month before finishing him off with a knife to the chest.  Christopher was apparently angry at his father for passing the Asperger's gene on to him)

The vast majority of the homicides cited above were committed by people other than "lawful gun owners".  The homicides of approximately 1000 children under the age of 16 are included in this data.  (Source: FBI Uniform Crime Report and DOJ Homicide Data.  Please feel free to use Google and verify.)

Any preventable death is a sad occurrence.  Any preventable death of a child is a tragedy.  A person killed in an automobile accident is just as dead as a person killed by a gun, yet there is no massive public outrage over violent automobile deaths.

Simply put, my point is that the people screaming for "assault weapon" bans are doing so using arguments based purely on emotion with little regard for facts.  Most of the screamers are simply ignorant and are merely repeating the misinformation broadcast by the media without realizing that the media has an agenda and without checking the veracity of what is being reported.

The "assault weapon" is not the weapon of choice for homicides in this country.  In fact, the "assault weapon" is used less frequently than any other weapon in the commission of homicides in America.

The "assault weapon" is but a small fraction of the weapon class (rifles) that is used least frequently in the commission of homicide in this country.

~~~~~~
Anyway, it has been several hours and I have had no further response from Commenter 2.
What seems simple and logical (as well as being verifiable) to you and me is apparently unfathomable to others, even in the face of irrefutable factual data compiled by the government that they love, trust, and depend upon.  I find that kind of hinky.
From National Review...
Another from David P.  He's been busy today.  :)
"What happened in Newtown is not an occasion for a national political 'conversation.' It is an occasion to reflect on why we have political conversations at all. ... It is easy, and in moments of despair such as Friday quite understandable, to scream 'more' to gun control, 'more' to the morass of airport-style security that is spreading its way across our institutions, 'more' to the diagnosis and institutionalization of the mentally ill. But it is much harder to write the laws that would have guaranteed Adam Lanza could never find a gun, or enter a school by force, or go without what diagnosis, treatment, and supervision he might have needed. And hardest of all to write them in such a way that the republic we'd be left with would still look like America in the ways we value most. This is not so say such laws cannot or should not be written -- in the field of mental health, in particular, we think there are commonsense reforms that might make tragedies such as Newtown less likely -- but merely to caution humility and care in their crafting. The need for humility is especially acute in the case of gun control. The irreducible challenge the Second Amendment poses to gun restrictionists is that it does not bestow upon the people a right they previously lacked. It proscribes the government from infringing upon a right the people already have. It is not that the people are allowed to arm. It is that the government is disallowed to disarm them. The practical consequence of living for nearly two-and-a-half centuries under the almost universally benevolent protection of the Second Amendment is a society in which there are hundreds of millions of guns, in which 47 percent of families and nearly as many Democrats as Republicans own guns, and in which the dissent over the sacrosanctity of gun rights is heard largely because of the overrepresentation in the media of the coastal, urban Left. Those upset with the order of things are welcome to try, and doomed to fail, to repeal the Second Amendment via the constitutional process. But the guns of America aren't going anywhere any time soon, and generic calls to 'do something' -- even insofar as doing something is desirable -- must reckon with this fact." --National Review
Makes sense, right?
My question is:  What causes all of the "mental illness" that we are so fond of talking about and so fond of blaming for all of these recent killings?
I think that it is caused by an emptiness in the lives of our children.  The lack of a solid foundation on which to build their lives.  They are searching for something that they don't have.  Some may know what they are looking for but I suspect that most do not.  They are missing security.  They are missing love.  They are missing acceptance.  They have no goals.  They are merely existing, going through the motions.  It is a societal problem, a societal issue.  It isn't something that we need to throw tons of money at.  We need families again.  Families who love and support each other, who take care of each other.  Families who want to succeed based upon their own toil and who want their children to succeed in the same way.
Leaders of this country have tried to implement Socialism (or Marxism or Communism, or whichever -ism you want to use) for many years.  Lyndon Johnson was the one who really understood Lenin.  "Give me four years to teach the children and the seeds I have planted will never be uprooted"  ~~Vladimir Lenin.  That is what Johnson accomplished.  He planted the seed that turned our American education system into the Socialist producing factory that it is today.  Lyndon Johnson oversaw fundamental change in the way our children are taught and what our children are taught.  The same scope of change obama wants to implement when he talks about fundamentally changing America.  Johnson opened the doors to the Progressives who were more than willing to jump in and run with the ball.  Our children are being taught a revisionist version of history.  A version in which America is not the greatest country on earth.  They are taught that the collective is more important than the individual.  They minimize the accomplishments of America and Americans.  They make our children ashamed of our past.
Nothing will ever change in this country until we take back the education of our children.  Nothing.  That is where these troubles started and it is where they will end.
Public education is a reality and a necessity.  Curriculums must be set at the local level.  Parents and local citizens must be involved in the education of our children.  They must keep their local school boards and local school officials in line.  They cannot allow them to stray.
It isn't complicated.  It won't be easy.  It has to happen for the long term survival of the America we remember and hold dear.
"If you believe the availability of guns is the problem, then you must be ENRAGED at Obama over Operation Fast & Furious." --Daily Caller contributor Matt K. Lewis
"House Republicans and Democrats stayed deadlocked over whether to cut spending or raise taxes to save the economy. If they send us over the fiscal cliff, they will still get paid. Their salaries are guaranteed under the Americans with No Abilities Act." --comedian Argus Hamilton
"So people are acting pretty set on gun control, but all their ideas are things that do nothing but pester law abiding gun owners. ... So idea: Let's just pretend to pass gun control. The people who most want it won't know the difference between an actual law being passed and absolutely nothing being done, so can't we just say we passed a bunch of laws and pretend everyone is safer? We'll call it the 'Super Deadly Gun Ban Act' and it will ban fully-automatic bolt action shotguns and armor piercing hollow points and any magically enchanted guns. And then all the dumb people will cheer, 'We is safer!' So it's the same result as an 'assault weapon' ban, but no enforcement costs and no petty intrusions on liberty. If people want useless things done to make us all feel safer, can't we all just play along?" --humorist Frank J. Fleming
Misguided...
I am sad.
Words cannot describe the sadness I feel at the Sandy Hook shootings.  I know that all of you feel the same way.
No sane person would do something like Adam Lanza did in Connecticut.  (Just as no sane person would be unaffected by the killings of 20 small children and 6 adults in a school.)  The crime that Adam Lanza committed at Sandy Hook Elementary School was pure evil.  I cannot think of any other way to describe it.  My mind cannot comprehend walking into an elementary school and carrying out the wholesale slaughter of innocent children.  It sickens me.
Some internet and print news outlets are publishing the biography of one victim each day.  Their goal appears to be to keep this horrendous crime in the public's eye as long as possible.  The reason is to keep the emotions of the unthinking masses riled up for a long enough period of time to get the necessary support of "the people" in order to get new gun control laws passed.  What other reason could they have for keeping the pain and the anguish alive for so long?  They know that Americans are self centered and have very short attention spans.
Those in the media know that if they don't keep it at the forefront of America's mind, America will forget about it in short order.  That would be disastrous to the Progressive cause.
I am angry.
I am angry at Adam Lanza for perpetrating such an evil, horrendous act.  I am angry that he took the coward's way out by committing suicide before he could be apprehended.  I am angry at the people who think that "gun control" will eliminate, or even minimize, crimes like this.  I am angry at the politicians who see this incident as an "opportunity" to push their Progressive anti-gun agenda.   I am angry at people who are willing, more than willing, to usurp our natural rights based on emotional arguments and "party line agendas" rather than on objective thought and the study of facts.  That they are  willing to make world altering decisions based only on emotion is indicative of society in America today.
I realize it's cliche' but, guns don't kill people.  People kill people.  A person makes a decision, a choice, to do harm to another.   Yet we blame the tool rather than the individual wielding the tool.
Each individual person is solely responsible for all of the choices he or she makes.  It isn't my fault that Adam Lanza perpetrated this unspeakable evil.  It isn't your fault.  It is Adam Lanza's fault.  He did it on his own.  The Progressives want to punish you and me though, for his choice.  Is there one iota of logic in that?
Don't blame the tool.  Blame the fool.  The tool is incapable of doing anything at all without the intervention of the fool.
The reality.
Killings in schools are not new.  They have been going on for a long time but have increased in frequency in the past 30 years or so.  They are not unique to the United States, either.  Google "School Killings".  You may be surprised.  Little Billy gets bullied by Bobby and Jerry every day at school so one day he brings a gun or a knife to school and ends the torment.  Perhaps he picks up a large rock and crushes their skulls.  Timmy and Susi are in love hot and heavy until one day Susi decides she likes Jack more than she likes Timmy.  Timmy comes to school one day and kills one or both of them.  A college student fails to be accepted into an advanced degree program so he kills the professor whom he feels wrongly denied him an opportunity that he was entitled to.  After he kills the professor, he kills several students who just happen to be nearby.  It happens.
Why?
I'm sure that a highly educated doctor or professor or someone like that could give you a better sounding answer than I can.
The simple answer is that our children are spoiled brats.  They have never been taught to be responsible and they have never been held accountable for their actions or lack of action.  They have never been disciplined or punished in any meaningful way when they break the rules.  (FYI: "Time out" is neither discipline nor punishment)  Many of them have never been taught the rules.  They don't know God and they don't know the difference between right and wrong.
Parents no longer take responsibility for raising their children.  Mom drops Sally and Jim off at daycare on her way to work.  The daycare staff makes sure that Sally gets on the bus to school and they babysit little Jimmy all day.  Sally rides the bus back to daycare after school and stays there until mom gets off work and gets done with her workout at the gym.  She picks the kids up and takes them home, possibly stopping at Mac's Supper Club for burgers and fries at the drive through.  Dad gets home (if there is a dad) shortly after they do.  He is tired and hungry and wants only to eat and sleep.
The weekend finds the kids going to a soccer tournament where Sally's  team finishes 19th out of 20 teams.  She gets a medal for participating.  Don't want any winners and certainly don't want any losers.  Don't want any hurt feelings.  Mom hangs out with a couple of her friends while one of the friends' 9 year old daughter keeps an eye on Jim.  When Jim gets to kindergarten he will get certificates of accomplishment when he learns to tie his shoes and when he can count to ten and when he can say his ABCs.  When he gets a bit older he will try out for join the baseball team but he won't enjoy it because he is lazy and he sucks.  He just wants to get home to play Halo 2 and to kill or be killed with his "friends" while sitting safely in his mother's basement.  Dad has been gone for years.  He and his ex wife are both remarried so Jim and Sally have another mother and father.  When Sally was 15 she wanted to be accepted by her 19 year old boyfriend so they had sex.  You know, so that she could show her "love" for him.  She ended up pregnant.  She had no idea that there were people out there who would gladly help her raise her child and she was terrified because her boyfriend left her when he found out that she was "stupid enough" to let herself get pregnant.  She had an abortion.
The kids have been left on their own to their own devices for so long that they do not know how to properly and successfully deal with their feelings.  They don't know how to make decisions and they don't know how to resolve conflict.  If mom and dad, or their friends, aren't around to give them bad advice, they freeze.  They don't know what to do.
The time comes when they have to grow up and get a job and become a productive member of society.  They are faced with a foreign world where there are rules and expectations.  They find that they can't cope.
Anyway, where was I?
Oh yeah...  Why?  Why do these young 20 somethings snap and kill people.  I don't know.  I don't have the answer nor do I have any ideas...  You'll have to ask someone smarter than me.
BTW, I have a 6 year old granddaughter.  She is in kindergarten.  I love her more than life.
Taxes...
From Jared...
~~~~~

A little boy wanted $100.00 very badly and prayed for weeks, but nothing happened .

Then he decided to write God a letter requesting the $100.00.

When the postal authorities received the letter addressed to God , USA , they decided to send it to President Obama.

Obama was so amused that he instructed his secretary to send the little boy a $ 5.00 bill.

He thought this would appear to be a lot of money to a little boy.

The little boy was delighted with the $5.00 bill and sat down to write a thank you note to God, which read:

Dear God: Thank you very much for sending the money. However, I noticed that for some reason you sent it through Washington, D.C. and that asshole Obama took $95.00 in taxes.

Mental disorder...

From barack obama's Dead Fly via Cousin Michael.

"Proof liberalism is a mental disorder! Produces some of the most violent movies on the big screen, such as the Kill Bill series, and then calls for gun bans! QUENTIN TARANTINO"

I have to admit that I have enjoyed many Tarantino movies over the years.  Pulp Fiction is a favorite.  I liked the Kill Bill movies, too.  They're all big money, the Hollywood whores.  All of them.

How convenient...

So Hillary apparently "blacked out" and fell and sustained a concussion.  How convenient.  Wasn't she scheduled to testify before the Senate regarding the Benghazi murders debacle?

I wonder if she'll remember what happened so she can truthfully testify?  Surely she is the one person who can clear it all up for us.

Heal quickly, Hillary.  Your country needs you.

Choices...

My old platoon leader posted this on Facebook this morning.  It originally came from Cajun Charm and it is obviously in reference to the shootings in Newtown.

My response was:

'"Think back a couple of years, Bob, back to when you were a kid in school... How many kids had "behavioral disorders" when you were a kid? How many were on Ritalin? If you went to a school like mine the answer is "not very many". At least not compared to today. We knew that there were consequences for bad behavior. We knew that games had winners and losers. Not everyone made the team. If you got into trouble at school or in town you were going to be in more trouble when you got home. Today they might get "time out" for misbehaving. You didn't get a "participation medal" just for showing up and your self esteem grew when you accomplished "real" things. Today's kids get an award when they learn to tie their shoes, when they learn to count to ten, when they learn their ABCs. Not just praise for a job well done, they get a certificate or a medal for accomplishing these basic tasks. Most of them finish school without the ability to think. They have never had to make a decision on their own. They expect society to give them a job and a car and a house and eternal happiness. What happens when they realize that things don't work that way? We don't hold our kids responsible for their actions and we don't hold them accountable. Those are totally foreign concepts to them. And God... Remember God? He was the guy who set our moral compass... God had to go away. Why? God didn't allow homosexuality as an alternative lifestyle. God didn't want people to get stoned on drugs and to steal from their neighbors in order to buy more drugs. God wanted you to respect your wife and your family and your neighbors... God doesn't want women to kill their unborn babies because they got inconveniently pregnant. God got in the way of "whatever makes you feel good", so he had to go away.  Sorry for the rant, Bob. I'm going to get dressed, get my oldest son (Carl, you remember him...) and go out in the rain to hunt deer. I'm not going to shoot anyone if I get pissed because I don't get a deer. In fact, I'm not going to get pissed if I don't get a deer. Life has winners and losers. I have learned to cope."'

So, now you know how I feel about it.  I agree with the card in the picture.  Absolutely.  I think that's all I have to say about it.
All I can say is "times have changed", and not necessarily for the better.

Taxi...

From David P in S.C.

With the Holidays upon us I would like to share a personal experience with my friends about drinking and driving. As you may know, some of us have been known to have brushes with the authorities from time to time on the way home after a "social session" out with friends. Well two days ago I was out for an evening with friends and had several cocktails followed by some rather nice red wine. Feeling rather jolly, I still had the sense to know that I may be slightly over the limit. That's when I did something that I've never done before - I took a cab home.

Sure enough on the way home there was a police road block, but since it was a cab they waved me past. I arrived home safely without incident. This was a real surprise as I had never driven a cab before, I don't know where I got it and now that it's in my garage I don't know what to do with it.

Hot Dog Man...

This article was forwarded by a dear friend.  As you'll see when you read the article, there is a link to donate to help...

If you watched the video of the goon punching the reporter in the face in Michigan a day or two ago during the "Union Protests" against Michigan's new Right to Work law, you probably saw the tent where this gentleman was serving his hot dogs being knocked to the ground and trampled.  A man who actually has the initiative to go out and earn a living for himself.

I realize that unions used to have a necessary place in this country.  I'm not so sure that's the case anymore.

Do you know what he did after the union goons destroyed his business and hurled racial insults at him?  He prayed with his wife.
Anyway....

Michigan locals raise funds for 'hotdog guy' after union protesters destroy his supplies

  • Clint Tarver2_hotdogMI.jpg

Clinton Tarver has been serving hot dogs to hungry locals in downtown Lansing, Mich., for the last five years, but a brush this week with a pro-union protest literally upended his small business in a matter of minutes.
During a protest against right-to-work legislation in Michigan's capital, Tarver’s catering supplies were destroyed when demonstrators tore down the tent where he was serving and trampled his gear.
The tent had been set up by the conservative Americans for Prosperity, which supports the legislation Gov. Rick Snyder signed into law Tuesday that allows unionized workers to opt out of paying union dues.

At the range...

 4" GP100
 It took awhile but I finally got there...
 The Missus from 20 yards with her MK I...  We'll get there  :)
The Missus with the GP100...  She liked it.  Kinda.  Too heavy?

The Missus and I took advantage of the 50 degree temps today and went out to the range.  I wanted to shoot the new GP100 and she wanted to shoot her Ruger MKI.

It's been awhile since I fired a large caliber revolver and it's been even longer since the Missus has fired at all.  Today's shooting proves that!  :)

We went over to the 20 yard range and shared it with a couple of gentlemen who were shooting .45 acp Springfield XD-M pistols.  There were a couple of  lanes between us, so no one was in anyone's way.  It was good.

I fired the first 6 rounds with the GP100 in single action.  I was way low and all over the place.  The first thing I noticed was that the recoil with .38 Specials was minimal.  A very nice shooting revolver.  I paid a bit of attention to my grip and concentrated on my sight picture and saw immediate improvement.  I fired 6 more rounds in single action then fired the remainder in double action.  Trigger pull was very smooth but somewhat heavy in DA.  By the time we were finished I was satisfied with where the bullets were striking the target.

My first impressions of the Ruger GP100...  Very well made revolver.  Well balanced.  Fit of all the parts is very good.  Exactly what you would expect from a gun of this type.  Brushed stainless finish is pretty good.  There are a couple of spots that aren't perfect but it certainly doesn't affect the function of the gun.  The Hogue grip is very comfortable and solid once you get used to it.  It feels to be a slightly wider grip than the S&W 686.  The front sight is all black and there is no contrast between the front and rear sights when aligned with a black target.  Makes it hard to get a good sight picture.  Gonna have to do something about that.  A tiny bit of white paint, perhaps?  Night sights?  We'll see.  Overall, I am extremely happy with the purchase of the GP100.

Like I said, the Missus hadn't fired a gun of any type in quite a long time.  After the first few rounds from her MK I she started to settle in and was getting closer and closer to where she wanted to be.  Big smile on her face.  She fired 12 rounds through the GP100 and came away smiling from that, too.

I asked if she wanted to fire the XDS.  By her reckoning it's small and light so it has to be a gentle shooter, right?  (LOL)  She fired one round from the bench, supported with her elbows.  I watched from the side as that pistol recoiled.  She didn't like it much, but she didn't panic.  She said, and I quote...  "Whoa...  Whoa.......  I don't like that.  I don't like that.  I don't like that at all".  I didn't laugh at her.  I explained the large cartridge in a light, short barreled pistol theory to her.  She mentioned that "your other .45 doesn't kick like that".  She was referring to my 1911, of course.  She used to shoot it on occasion without any problem.  I also have a Taurus OSS 24/7 in .45 acp.  She wouldn't like the recoil of that either.  It's a full sized pistol but, being plastic, it's light and the recoil is a bit more harsh than the 1911.

Anyway, she has decided that she wants to spend time at the range again.  She wants to get her CCW permit.  I'm all about that.

She looked at the Ruger LCP yesterday and liked it.  Another small, light pistol.  I took her to the gun shop this afternoon so she could compare the LCP to the LC9.  We'll see.  The XDS will be available in 9mm one of these days...

She kept telling me that the GP100 is too heavy.  I told her that it felt like it weighed about the same as her MK I.  When we got home I weighed both of them.  Her MK I is actually 105 grams heavier than the GP100.  She never believes me.  :)

Anyway, it was a fun day shooting with her.

Finally...

4" GP 100.  Had to go to Wisconsin to get it.  It's a hassle harder than it needs to be for an Iowan to purchase a handgun in Wisconsin.  Buy the gun, have an FFL from the other side of the river come across and pick it up, go to his shop in Iowa and do the transfer.  It actually went pretty smooth today.  The last time I bought a pistol in Wisconsin was on a Saturday afternoon.  Same procedure but not quite as smooth due to being late in the afternoon.  Ahhh well, it all works out.  :)

It was the only one they had.
