The sporadic musings of a middle aged man who isn't exactly happy with the direction America is taking today....
Thanks, Blue!An old old Ukrainian lady (who endured and survived both the Communists and the Nazis) told me years ago, "Never trust anyone who wants to do away with God, marriage, or the family."By the way, I have read "The Gulag Archipelago" three times. Every person who thinks socialism is a good thing should read it.
The Ukrainian lady knew what she was talking about, Bob.I've read Gulag. My "go to" book, when I need to be reminded, is Elie Wiesel's "Night".Both books are quite sobering. Should be required reading. :)
I think I have a copy oo Wiesel's book; I will have to read it.Yes, they should be required reading!
"One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich" is another outstanding Solzhenitsyn book. I think it's his best, but what do I know? :)
"One Day" - if I remember rightly - captures all of "Gulag" in one slim volume, and I have no doubt that most of the description in it of camp conditions is factually accurate.
Bob... Yep. That's the one.
