Smitty...

My first Smith and Wesson firearm.  A model 19 with a compensated 3" barrel.

Designed with concealed carry in mind.  6 rounds in a slim cylinder.  Front night sight.  Comes from the Performance Center at Smith & Wesson.  The trigger seems simply amazing.

I've had this less than a week and have not been to the range with it yet.  Like I have said before, I'll probably wait until it gets cold outside or is raining lightly.  We have a very nice range at our local county park, but there are a lot of people out there who are obviously new to firearms and they scare the crap out of me.  :)  They don't seem to go out in the cold and wet...

Anyway...

Stay safe.

Peace

Sheesh!!! lucky you. There is nothing to be had locally here. The entire handgun display case at Cabelas last week was filled with duck decoys and plastic gun cases... zip, zilch, nada... The gun library was closed and they put the used long guns, mostly C&R stuff, they had in the main display area so it would not look empty.

M. Silvius... The fella I buy from sits at his computer and orders pretty much anything that he thinks people might want, then hopes some of it comes in. He is actually doing pretty good with Ruger, Taurus, and Smith revolvers right now, and Glocks. Lots of Glocks. His shop is busy all the time. Like so much of the gun world today you either order something that you know you want and then wait... or you hit the gun shop all the time prepared to put up if they have something that appeals to you. That old saying "you snooze, you lose" has never been more true than in the gun world right now. :)

I'll get a picture of the gun case out at Fleet Farm next time I'm out there. Not much in that case... ;)

Yea nothing small and local like that here. Those have all closed up shop in the last couple years. The only local one to me is Cabelas and they got taken over by Bass Pro a while ago. Apparently their corporate legal policy don't much care for that line of business so they are not very responsive to the customer, and much less so in these times. The guys that work the counter are nice enough but they have no say in the matter.

Mike... Cabela's has always been a favorite for me and my late wife. There is one in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, which is about 90 miles away, and one in Owatonna, Minnesota, which is about 130 maybe? And Rogers, Minnesota which is just north of Minneapolis, about 200 miles. They built a Bass Pro here in Iowa, down in Altoona, a few years back, before the Cabela's purchase. I've always liked Cabela's. Lots of good memories there. Their gun guys have always been helpful to me. I have bought handguns at Prairie du Chien and finished the transfer at a small general store in McGregor, Iowa, just across the Mississippi. Of course you don't need to do that with rifles or shotguns.

Congratulations on your new find. If your range has a closed interior, make certain hearing protection is worn when firing. Every compensated firearm I have ever fired was substantially louder. Hearing loss for us old pharts is no joke.

It does look like a fine carry weapon, I hope it shoots better than you hope !
