The 1968 Chicago Convention riots were well handled. The Chicago Police had shotguns with rock salt. They fired into the knees and thighs of the first line of Yippies. Then came in the National Guard with trucks surrounded with barbed wire. As they ran through the disintegrating line, the Police followed up with night sticks and paddy wagons. Soldiers Field was turned into a containment area. And, Mayor Daley said that his Police were given the orders to shoot anyone throwing a Molotov Cocktail or processing the same. Ah, the good old days. Haven't seen a riot since then of any consequence. But, now, Chicago....

Heh, they fought desegregation, they fought busing, they fought "the Great Society"... and then they turned around and took them all over, using them to ghettoize blacks, all the white claiming they were the ones championing "equal rights". No one, black or whte, realized at the time what they meant - that they would reduce *everyone's* rights to those few which pre-1960s blacks were able to enjoy without consequences in the Democratic South... which was very few, indeed.
