I couldn't find the lily tomlin skit about birds, so this is an off topic video, but still good humor. :)

They were Minneapolis boys, and we were really proud of them. This video is the first time I've heard "Surfin' Bird" for 50 years, and it's still delightfully wacko.

I always got a kick out of this song, Bob. Minn-ee-SOH-tah, eh? :)

Bob is a Minneapolis boy and I'm a St. Paul girl. Tony Andreason was the lead guitarist of The Trashmen and was a friend of the family.

I used to love that song for the same reasons Bob did.

And, no - I don't say Minn-ee-SOH-tah, since I moved to Houston when I was seventeen I have an odd mix of accents and most people think I'm from Chicago. Sigh...

Yep,I knew that Bob is from Minneapolis and that you made it to Idaho from St Paul via Texas. Didn't know that the Trashmen were from Minneapolis. Like I said, I always got a kick out of that song. :)

Steve Wahrer, the guy singing, died from throat cancer at the age of 47.

Listen to the song when you start to take yourself a little too seriously. Or just listen to it with your 4-year old grand daughter.

That song is timeless. Whenever I get out to DJ a picnic once or twice a year I always play it. Always gets a great response with everyone from little kids to grandparents whooping and hollering and dancing around. Too bad that this is the only one by the Trashmen that people remember though. They did a lot of great tunes. Henrietta is one my favorites. A band called the Bay-O-Wolves did a great cover of it.
