Nah, it could never happen here.
From the New American article linked above:
“I understand why they’re doing it, but I don’t think it’s constitutional,” resident Scott Boccio told WFSB-TV as he was registering his guns.
Seriously? You don't think it's constitutional? Then why the fuck are you standing in line registering your guns? You "understand" why they're doing it. Do you? Seriously? Do you have the slightest fucking clue why they are doing it?
Baaaahhhhhhh. Baaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh.
Update: I cannot help but think of Samuel Adams' words when I think of what has happened in Connecticut. To wit:
“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of
servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in
peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which
feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye
were our countrymen.”

The owners of now "properly registered" firearms in Connecticut had an opportunity to make a powerful statement against tyranny. Unfortunately, the statement they docilely made was "a little tyranny is OK".
What happens next time?

Congratulations on creating your most powerful post, ever!
What's even more disgusting is the possibility that some of the "men" in that line are veterans. Calling them sheep doesn't begin to describe them. :/
Great post, Blue! Thanks!!
John... Thank you. I was prodded along by David P. in NC. :)
Grog... I can only think of this when I think of those men in Connecticut:
“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.”

Bob... Thanks.
Incredible post. I never thought it ever would come down to this. My Dad was oin the Army Air Corp and flew the Hump in India Burma and China during WW II. He passed away seven years ago. If he were alive today and saw what was happening to his beloved United States he would die of a broken heart.
Anon... The world has changed. America has changed... Not for the better, in my opinion.
